Need some invites for friends...5-10...Please read DEVS...

(xtim) #1

I have purchased the $120.00 Founders Pack, and yet to have a real game. So I am currently unable to test since the majority of the testers seem to be located in the EU, and when they are playing, I am at work (my problem I know this).

I would really appreciate some alpha invites (for my friends)…

I belong to a very small gaming community comprised of a few top gamers from games such as CS1.6, CS:GO, RTCW, ET, DOTA, LOL, and World of Warcraft; from the likes of guilds such as Ministry, and Exodus US (WOW related).

We don’t have a website, nor do we have many, since we primarily focus on 5-10 man games. But we are extremely competitive and love a good challenge.

We have also alpha tested, closed beta tested, every single MMO, MOBA, FPS, etc. You name it. We’ve tested it. We can provide excellent feedback, and honest criticism.

We can be found hanging out in our mumble server : gamerface.murmur.nfoservers.com // port: 17860

We’ve been asking for more players for a while…

They’ll probably invite paying customers before giving out free invites, is my guess.

(xtim) #3

I mean if that is the case…How would they expect to get more players interested in this already excellent game? I can’t tell my buddies about the game… (breaking NDA)

If they want hype they need to invite more… They are paying for servers to be up… Why not have them filled up?

(xtim) #4

For every five alpha invites, it is likely someone would buy a pack; as opposed to someone stumbling upon this game on accident…(which as of right now is low)

Not to be a jerk but check out these stats… http://www.alexa.com/siteinfo/splashdamage.com Dead in the water…

I believe in these developers, and what they did with ET, that’s is the only reason why I paid $120.00…

But it doesn’t take a marketing genius to figure this out…

(Nail) #5

lots of people have paid for packs, but are not yet invited into the closed alpha, they would be the people Splash Damage would invite first, before just handing out invites to your friends, imo

btw, game is no where near open beta, let alone release, lots of time

no doubt i think there are still quite a few legendary buyers still waiting for their invite

That makes perfect sense…

What doesn’t make sense is…

All the servers are not being utilized…

The game at its current state is better then most closed betas I’ve seen…(they have nothing to hide)

I’m unable to give proper feedback on a game which I am unable to play with others.

Very little people are transiting to their website… at all… So how do you expect to sell founders packs?

I stumbled upon the game when I was looking to see if ET was still alive…

I don’t think its about hiding anything. The game is still a work in progress. And I guess they aren’t disappointed with the amount of feedback they’re getting otherwise they may have already made a push for more player invites. Plus once it is in closed beta they can invite however many people they need to since you don’t have to pay to have a chance to get into closed beta. I think at this point its just not about numbers for them. But maybe once its closed beta it will be. Its a process.

Perhaps… we will have to see if they respond, and what their take is on this…

Due to the very limited pool of players, its quite easy to make drastic changes / fool around with idea’s quite easily without upsetting a large pool of players. If they start offering invites to players, the player base will increase 5x over night.

This alpha is a true alpha. Large game companies use the word beta / alpha and release it to 100k people, these are just demo’s of the real product.

I believe the game will reach a certain point where they are happy and mechanics are locked in, then they will open it up to more players. Until then, you have to pay the $120 to see what its like

  1. The game is still in Alpha so of course you’ve not got a ready made game, what were you expecting?

  2. I paid $120/£70 to be part of the Alpha and help shape the game, why should people who have paid nothing be invited in while others like myself have paid, and when there are people with Elite and Veteran packs waiting to be invited?

I have been in alpha’s before, this is a true alpha. In regard to the small player base, so they are able to make drastic changes, just seems a bit silly… If they are unable to handle those opinions now, what will happen down the road when there are 100k + people playing?

I understand the second part, and yes, the term alpha/beta has been lost-in-translation over the last five or so years…It means different things to different companies…

For example, the CS:GO alpha… They had a decent player base, you clicked a button and it brought you into a game with others… Very simple. Very easy to test the game…

If not my friends, invite more US players then (or at least the ones who already paid for the product)…

I understand what an Alpha is… For an “mmo” alpha you don’t need multiple people to test the base game… Unfortunately, for an “fps” you do…

Why not? Because maybe most people don’t want to drop down x dollars for a game they have yet to hear anything about…?!? (but sure I can agree for those who paid should be invited first)

(chippy) #14

You pretty much answered your own question with that. If they can work out the kinks on how to handle the feedback and critique they are getting with a small userbase it’s going to be easier to expand the userbase without being worried about being swamped with feedback, questions and rants. If a small system for handling this is working perfectly, it’s easier to slowly start expanding the system and the userbase with it.

Get it done right, not fast.

I do however agree with you that it would be nice with just a few more invites to get the servers populated a bit more and/or longer.

Now see I would agree with the small part… But this isn’t the companies (I will be cliché) first rodeo… They have dealt with the masses before…

So the point is moot…

(Nail) #16

alpha players do not include inhouse testers unless they are playing on “public” servers, inhouse brute force testing is probably occurring at all times

(RasteRayzeR) #17

Still, we could use an extra 5 to 10 players on the servers during rush hours. Badman offered some keys some time ago, that’s how I got Tscheims_Pont into DB.

(tokamak) #18

Yeah what’s up with that? I can hardly stand it any of my mail orders is delayed. To wait months for something you already paid for must be excruciating.

(RasteRayzeR) #19

They should have paid more

They knew this is only alpha stage, and if their pack doesn’t allow access to alpha, they knew it could take time before they are let in.

(SIR-NUBBINz) #20

If splash damage handed out invites to your friends, myself and others here would be very unhappy as I know of people who have paid the $30 and have not been invited to the alpha.
