Need some good questions for Interview

Hey guys,
My site, totaletqw.com, might be getting an interview with Activision about Enemy Territory: Quake Wars and was wondering if you guys had any major questions or concerns about the game. It will be a 10-12 question interview, so post here and if I think it’s significant, Ill ask it :smiley:

Do you think Quake Wars will follow in the footstops of it’s younger brother Enemy Terrirotory in terms of popularity?

Will Quake Wars include a single player mode or is it going to be a totally multiplayer based game?

What kind of system is the public atleast going to have to run Quake Wars?

Some of your questions are allready answered in the past.

Said after planning stage: MP only.

If it can run Doom 3 decently, it can run ET:QW.

will the game have day night cycles or set time per level i can for the life figgure it out. The trailer has some day and night shot and there are intereviews that could surgest ither

as you get to ask the publisher, i guess they won’t dig into technical issues, nor answer a demo or release date.

here’s mine: will there be a collector’s edition? what will be in it? … no, that’s 2 questions. just ask a trick question: what will be in the collector’s edition? that’s betta :smiley:

  1. We’ve heard alot about mega-textures, and some people have speculated that map file sizes will be very large because of them. A 32,000 x 32,000 image for example is almost 1 GB in size. Will map file sizes actually be this big, and if they are does this mean that players will not auto download maps from a server anymore?

  2. Will the new deployable assets be destroyable by any class, or only by certain classes like the engineer?

  3. Will the editor have some sort of terrain tool to shape terrain like push, pull and smooth actions, or will it be like Doom 3 where you have to drag vertices on a plane?

  4. Are there any plans for demo, and if so do you see it coming out before the game is released?

  5. Will you be able to pickup weapons like in ET, and have for example a GDF Medic with a Strogg weapon possible?

  6. With the maps split into territories by team, will it be possible for a GDF player to go deep into enemy territory (past current objectives) or are the maps setup so you have to go a certain way, with natural boundaries like high cliffs for example?

  7. Do the classes have special abilities like the Medic syringe giving 10 seconds of half damage in ET, or are the special abilites new in QW?

maby they will be free to talk to us after E3? hopefuly anyway. wouldnt u be dieing to answer all these questions you were reading if you were making the game and reading this form?

I think I mentioned this before but anyway, an uncompressed 32k^2 texture is at least 3gb if you want colour. A 1gb 32k^2 image would have to be grayscale only.

Anyway, you’ll get the answer to this tomorrow.

  • A direct download version maybe?
  • EAX Voice support?
  • Dual-monitor support (map on secondary, first-person view on primary)?

Prolly, since it’s supposed to be ET with vehicles.

They said they preconise 32 players, but there’s no hardcoded limit. W:ET has no limit too, except for the server’s hardware.

Jesus, people, stop asking questions that are already answered all over the place. All we don’t need is another QA asking the same questions over and over again telling nothing new.

  1. Will there be demo recording? If so, how will it differ from Q4/D3 demo recording (netdemo and non-netdemo)? And will multi-view demo recording be possible?
  2. How will the damage model work? Everything damages everything, like UT2k4 ONS? Or some vehicles (ie, tanks) can’t take certain kinds of damage (ie infantry), like in BF2?
  3. How will voip work? Will there be toggles for fireteam, vehicle or nearby players, or something of the sort?
