Need Help!

I compiled my ready map into a pk3 file, but it doesnt works, i made everything alright, scripts, textures etc.
But it realy false, i compiled it with a winrar, i dont know whats the problem, could you help me?

You have to compile your “.map”-file with the help of q3map2 into a “.bsp”-file.
You will find compile options in the bsp-menu of the radiant.
Then you can pack the bsp-file into the pk3.

Yea, I know that, i made it too, but it doesnt works…
I tried this process with other people map, and the problem is the same, when i extract, than compile a map, it will failure…

Does your map work when you’ve just compiled it and it’s still in your /maps folder as a raw, unpackaged .pk3?

You have to pack the files including the directories into the pk3-file.
So the bsp has to be in the “maps” directory, the textures in the “textures/MAPNAME”-directory and so on.

Yea, i know it, my problem is that: I cant use that map, what I compiled, so I think the problem is with my compiler program, or with my process. (I select all folders, compile, mapname.rar, and rename it to mapname.pk3? Is it right, or it is the problem?)

Hasn’t there been a problem with winrar?
Not sure.
You could try to search the forum.

Another tool is pakscape.
Very easy to use.
So you could try this tool.

Yes, nUllSkillZ, I also encountered problems with .pk3s made with WinRAR some time ago. Maybe it uses an ZIP algorithm, that doesnt comply with .pk3 specifications.

With Pakscape everything works like a charm. :cool:

Just have noticed this.
Is rar = zip?
Should be zip I think.

rar is just another compression utility, but you may be right in guessing that .rar isn’t a pk3 compatible compression format.

Oh, lol, I didn’t noticed he renamed a .rar. That can’t work.
But as stated above, I got errors with loading a renamed .zip compressed with WinRAR.
Therefor use Pakscape - Iffy mentioned why. :cool:

The .arena isn’t essentially needed to run a map.

Another question, i made my tank for the sample in goldrush, but when i try to test the map, it shows an error: sv_brushmodel: null. I dont know what this mean, so please help me.
