im new to this game stuff and computer i dowloaded et from a recomended site when i tried playing it worked for a couple of min then disconnected me in consule it read punkbuster server not connected to server underneath said warning couldnt find image for shader levelshots/tc base?? does anyone know what this means in non computer language im computer illiterate… one more thing is there a reason this didnt automatically update for me??? thank you for your time…

Is Punkbuster turned on? If not, turn it on. Also TC Base is a custom map so it may not have downloaded correctly. Look for it on a website and download from there (put it in etmain), or you could look for a server running just the standard 6 (Oasis,Battery, Goldrush, Railgun, Radar, Fueldump)

Aye. And when you load ET go to Options -> Game: Look down the list there’s a part called ‘Download’, make sure they say yes. Think they are yes by default, but could be wrong. If they say no this is why it isn’t automatically updating for you.

There’s a tool in the pb-subdirectory:
pbwe.exe
Try to run this manually (e.g. open windows-explorer and doubleclick the file).
You have to be online while running this program.
A dos-window will open.
The download of the necessary Punkbuster-files will take several minutes.
Actually I’ve found a nice Punkbuster Update windows program.
Where all the installed games are listed.
And which updates all the listed games with one click.
Can’t remember where I’ve found it.
