First of all, is W:ET the only app to fail? Some other apps might also fail if they notice /dev/dsp is in use.
Also, check the W:ET console by pressing “~” (or the key on the top left under your Esc key), then going upwards by pressing “Page Up”.
No its only this game as ET:QW works fine im not sure what im looking for so i got a pic here
ET:QW is a newer game so you can’t really compare the two.
The screenshot you posted won’t help either, I’m afraid. You could do better by typing “/condump output.log” in the console (without the quotes). This will write a file named “output.log” to your W:ET’s “etmain” folder or into the .wolfet folder in your home dir. Look for it, and attach it here.
It should contain a more specific error, but I guess you should just check if you have correct rights set on the file /dev/dsp.
Hmm… There’s two different paths shown up in the console. One is home/aaron/.etwolf/etmain, does ET even support dots in the names btw? I have no idea about linux. It also does search and finds the same file later on from home/aaron/enemy-territory/etmain. This seems weird or is it supposed to be like that? Again I have no idea of linux but that behavior seems weird. Also we assume that sounds are working on other progs, but it might still be the voice settings on linux. Note I have no idea what I’m talking about… TAPIR!
I had the same problem with w:et, till found the following thread in the forums.
