Need Fueldump Map

For some reason, my fuledump map (and only fueldump) has gone screwy, won’t load. Where can I download just that map versus reloading the whole set by re-install? Help a newb in his dotage, fer chrissakes.

tbh i highly doubt there is anything wrong with it. the map resides in the game .pk3, and unless you’ve altered that, it can’t be corrupted. even if you did alter that file, i don’t think you’d be able to connect to any pure servers (could be wrong).

more likely is that you’ve downloaded some whacky .pk3 from a server which bunked up fueldump. first thing i would try is this:

open /etmain as well as /etpro /shrubet etc and delete all pk3 files that are smaller than, say, one megabyte. that should leave most maps you’ve downloaded intact, but remove any crazy stuff. be carefull to NOT delete mp_bin.pk3

if that doesn’t catch the culprit, you could move game folder to the desktop temporarily, reinstall ET, then move that new installation someplace for storage. now replace your original installation from the desktop, and copy pak0.pk3 from your fresh install to your old one, overwriting the existing file. save the fresh install for the future in case something like this happens again, you will have a virgin copy of the game handy for getting files from.

It is VERY possible for a single file to become corrupted - had a similar problem couple of years ago - Oasis never loaded - all other maps did - reinstalled and it worked fine.

and for future reference if 200~Mb is too much to download then keep a backup copy on disc or CD somewhere to save you the bandwidth - or try a PC Gamer or similar from a while back
