nasty bug

I’m sad to report that I’ve probably found a bug :frowning:

Today when I was killed I went to 90% directly into the respawn cycle without having the ability to wait for a medic to be revived. I dind’t do anything to stop the ‘waiting-for-a-medic’ phase and I wasen’t finished off during this phase (I’m certain here, I played for 3 houres straight and it was almost alwasy as described!) I was in 90% instantly dead, i entered the respawn cycle even before my body dropped to the ground :frowning:

This is the first time this happened to me in ET, during the demo this never happened at all and the first few games I’ve played in the final hadn’t this error.

It was really frustrating because I was playing with a buddy, he was a medic and nearby but had no chance to revive me :frowning:

I repeat, I’m certain that this wasn’t due to enemy fire hitting my half dead body !!

I’ve seen this a few times too. Maybe they made it so headshots now drop you stone cold.

I’ve quit the game, restarted and the same happened again. Other players on the server reported the same odd behaviour so it’s not just me :frowning:

Cant say ive had this problem,have you tryed other servers and was the same happening there.

sounds like that particular server is setup to not allow any “revive time”
(can’t remember the c_var atm !) like Englander says, try another
server.

I have had the same thing happen a few times on various different servers. I get shot down and am not given an opportunity to wait for a medic.

I do not think it is a server setting because it doesn’t happen every time or very often.

It’s like a “sub-gib” - if you take enough damage, you can’t revive, where “gib” = you take enough damage, you can’t revive and you decorate the area with your insides.

There’s a reason for it though - players waiting to revive can’t have their uniforms taken, so you shoot them up, beyond revival and take their uniforms.

I really really really doubt it is a bug.

I know that a player laying on the ground waiting for a medic can be shot completely dead (for example to steal his uniform), I’ve been playing RtCW since day 1 and ET since the demo came out, thats why I repeat the situation I’ve described is not that kind of death!! Mostly I’m almost instantly dead, I was shot by a SMG in a firefight (not gibbed) and even before my body dropped to the ground I was thrown into the respawn cycle! Other times I was shot in a very remote part of the map, there were no enemies around, a medic was sprinting forward to revive me… and before he reached me I was thrown into the respawn cycle! Had this just happened once or twice I’d say that maybe a sniper had finished me off or I was finished by severals players shooting at me but it happened so often now that I’m certain that it’s not intended !

I also doubt that it is a server setting because as I said it only happens in 80-90% of the cases were I was shot , sometimes I was still laying on the ground, able to wait for a medic but far to often I was just instantly dead. My buddy who was playing together with me on that server had non of these problems !

IT’S NOT A BUG it’s because your body blew up…

if you get killed by a grenade or a rocket launcher then chances are your body wont be intact… something a field medic cant do anything about

In the demo, i had a similar situation.

I would be shot, my body would drop, and after exactly three seconds i would enter the limbo without my consent. I dont know if its the same thing u have, because mine happened 100% of the time. I found out it was just that server. Just thought i would let u know what i had :smiley:

No,I wasn’t gibbed !! As I said, I’m not a newb, I know when I’m gibbed and when I should just fall to the ground to allow a medic to revive me.

This was different (never saw it, nor in RtCW neither in ET demo!!) and it is no server setting because a) it didn’t happen all the time and b) other players on the same server didn’t have the problem (but still, some reported having the same problem!).

I second Senator, it is neither a panzerfaust, grenade, or being shot dead gib. You get shot and go straight into the respawn cycle. Fortunately for me, it only happens on occasion.

There is a similar thread on the Planet Wolfenstein forum, it would seem quite a few other people are having the same issue.

Couldn’t you just randomly be non-repairable? Maybe some real folks die when they stub their toes?

I don’t know, I think if it’s not a server setting it’s that you can be gibbed pretty easy now. I play COps and in the ET test map I had to stab a guy 6+ times to gib him so I could take his cloths, now I only have to do it once or twice at most. Also quite a few times I have been waiting for a medic and as soon as he comes an enemy starts shooting at him and a stray bullet or two will send me into limbo.

If this is the case I actually like it.

I can confirm that this does happen. I never tap out if I see a medic nearby on the map but sometimes I automatically go onto spectate someone. I know the corpse has to be shot out a few times to stop it being revived but if I’m killed this happens. Not all the time though so it isnt a major bug but sure is a bug to me.

I’ve now tried several different servers… always the same.

I say this is a bug.
