Nades back! (gief alrdy!!)

(Glottis-3D) #1

This is ridiculous how you cannot kill a camping one-shot merc. even if you know exactly where he is.
like Phoenix or Bushwacker with their rubber bullets vs Proxy or Aura of even the Black guy. They just one shot you in close range.

nades were invented EXACTLY for killing campers who have much better position than you and are in defence.

who’s fault is that we have only maps with TONNS of camp-friendly close quarters??

rage.

here are some old threads with huge amount of awesome ideas about nades, their mechanics, style and damage patterns:

/me hugs Glottis

Even one low dmg nade - will be great help here…

I’ts hard to deal with campers without nades, as humanbeen said even 1 weak nade can be very useful and not turn game to spamfest.

I think ‘busting out campers’ is a typical role for the assault. There’s nothing wrong with a team having to rely on specific team-mates to break trough choke-holds.

I understand the sentiment. But I really believe that ‘it would be nice if everyone had a bit of this and that’ is only seeing part of the picture. By keeping the classes distinct you keep the combat mechanics diverse.

That said, the ‘break through’ potential of assault classes can be improved. Fragger’s grenades are underwhelming. Nader’s grenades have a low blast radius (for their long cooking time and ostentatious warning signals). Only Conker’s nades are really fun to play with.

You got it all wrong. Even if you break that “choke hold” it will be almost instant respawn and you’ll be back to square one.

i dont have Fragger or COncker. Because i have ONLY 3 MERCS to choose from.
and what if my whole team doesnt have a fragger? or he is dead? am i supposed to wait, when he respawn and hope that he will go my way and not the other way?

(prophett) #8

Not in favor of bringing back nades

(Loffy) #9

I’m level 20 now in LoL… Yern for fun, elaborated, evolved DB.

(slanir) #10

i don’t think it’s a great idea for dirty bomb to have grenades on every character, but I wouldn’t mind grenades existing outside of the Assault archetype in one form or another.

(Glottis-3D) #11

Weak mercs need nades.
With current strength i think:

Phoenix
Aura
Proxy

could use a nade. mb not even lethal. but 80Hp nade. mb different physics. like poison/electrical/shock wave nade or smthng.

Who picks Fragger when u can have OP Thunder?
Currently it does not make sense to pick Fragger, Fletcher or Nader.

Thunder/Aura/Redeye would kill u before u could switch your nade.

This is ridiculous how you cannot kill a camping one-shot merc. even if you know exactly where he is.

This is more a result of the totally weird balance, winding maps and the spawn-time issue.
Nades wont solve this

Thunder + Aura = New meta. Zo Stronk!

(tokamak) #13

Then your team has different strengths to bank on.

(Kl3ppy) #14

But thats not an issue of the nades/assault class

(BomBaKlaK) #15

I miss nades so much … : /

(Glottis-3D) #16

you speak theory. i state very annoying everyday routine game situations. hundreds of them. concrete situations with current maps and current merc-selection rule.

(tokamak) #17

If you’re feeling the pain and frustration of missing a merc to cover up a glaring weakness in the team’s strategy then to me that seems like the merc diversification is working. It’s proof that there can be lots of team compositions that are different in very meaningful ways.

Skill isn’t based on finding the perfect counter for each situation. That’s a rather trivial exercise. Skill lies in conquering the situation with the cards you’ve been dealt by using them in less conventional ways.

(potty200) #18

I know it isn’t I was just quoting what that guy said about breaking it with an Assault class.

I would like to just say that I am happy to not have grenades with every class as long as the spawn system gets fixed. If there is an awful spawn system in the future give everybody nades to add to the meat grind feeling… Would be lovely

if we were playing on balanced maps - yes. but we are not. Maps were made for 5 class game with nades. Waterloo door, waterloo hack-object, were clearly designed for nades countermeasures!! So were tonns of long gone and not yet gone parts of other maps with balconies, escalators, windows etc.

(Glottis-3D) #20

i mean. ok we all love to theorize.

if i have enemy on the balcony. and i happen to be a Phoenix at that precise moment, what are my options?? what are my strengths??
“Go take the Stairs, young padawan!”
“Should have taken Conker”
“Dont have Concker in merc-load?? Then use your own strengths…i.e. go up the stairs…”
