Nader's MARTYRDOM ability to OP?

I am wrong

Longjumping and awareness are your best friends when it comes to martyrdom.

Don’t get close to Nader, problem solved. It’s gotten to the point where I bait downed Naders to blow themselves up just for fun. Once you ingrain that you shouldn’t be close to a Nader, Martyrdom is useless.

(Monty) #4

Yeah, as someone who plays a Nader, it is so annoying when people learn to be smart enough not to come for the finishing hug…

But it is not entirely useless, as slower mercs struggle to get away and in narrow passages and corners you might not have the chance to flee in time. Or even when the gun fight still continues on.

And as funny as it may sound, I see someone approach, and I automatically mash the ‘F’ key. The granade falls, and the person running towards me is the medic from my own team… Luckily there is no friendly fire, but I do still explode—

Well, I might biased, but I do not see a problem with it. Through enough deaths trying to finish a Nader in melee, and you will eventually learn to avoid them. (Or if you need to pass the Nader lying in agony, agony, take a pistol and aim for the head.)

Use your Reflexes and Don’t knife the nader when she’s dead just shoot her

Even if Rhino melee’d you to death, he could still long jump out of range easily. Martyrdom is a noob/awareness trap, meant to catch people who don’t know better/don’t pay attention.

I hate to say it, but after all the phantom treads. It feels refreshing to finally see another “OMG MARTYRDOM OP” tread. Has been a while.

Joking aside. What the rest said. Martyrdom is easy to avoid and predictable. Dead Nader tries to blow you up 100% of the time, don’t go near.
The fuse is long enough to get away no matter how slow you are, but you gotta move as soon as it drops, if you do stupid things like going for a knife kill, or teabagging her with anything but a full health Rhino… well, happy respawning.

(Spahgooters) #8

I tend to use nader a lot since it being my favorite merc and I tend to have a low success rate on killing people with martydom. It usually tends to be the less skilled players that get caught up in it.

(onyxMaker) #9

The blast radius on martyrdom grenades should definitely be decreased.

Right now, you can be pretty far away from the grenade and it will still instakill you.

Martyrdom should only be an instakill if the person is right next to you when it goes off.

(KattiValk) #10

Martydom is pretty much useless unless there’s no time to finish off a Nader on the plant. No one really falls for it once they get used to it, though I will admit I got blasted by one last week during the free weekend.

(deerMirror) #11

Asides from maybe decreasing the radius of the martyrdom grenade I don’t really see any changes you can make to an already not-so-great ability. Dying to it sucks but after a while you sorta get use to staying the hell away from downed naders.

(Edzer) #12

Not OP at all, it is a nice noob destroyer. Everyone with a bit of experience will never die to a nader’s martydom.

(Crash) #13

This…I like this. Its my favorite thing to do. Its like giving an ice cream cone to a kid and right before his grubby little sausage fingers touch it, you rip it away and smash it on his forehead.

Every game has that one, cheap, stupid death that is entirely avoidable and easily avoidable, if you know about it. But if you don’t know about it, it’s a soul crushing destroyer of all newcomers…until you learn how to deal with it, then it’s like it never existed.

That is Martyrdom. Or you can be like me, see you’re out of ammo and suicide into a group of five people specifically to back them into a corner and blow yourself up while typing out Arabic chants.

But then again, I’m Brosama Bin Liften…it’s expected of me.

(Fiktio) #15

One of those first things I learned when I started this game:
Don’t go close to the dead Nader.

It’s simple as that.

(Amerika) #16

The best thing about Martyrdom is when you start to run at a downed Nader and act as if you’re going to keep going then stop and turn around…watching them pop is great

Martyrdom, outside of a few random situations, is pretty easy to avoid. Always keep tabs on if you or somebody killed a Nader and just long jump away on reaction. I very rarely get hit by it outside of the random situations that are unavoidable I mentioned. Just like Proxy mines and Bushwhacker turrets…you will eventually learn (the hard way) how to avoid them.

(Ottah) #17

well said Amerika, just pull out your knife, do one step forward to pretend you are going to knife the nader and then just switch back to your main weapon and reload as you can go look for your next victim while the nader will gib herself for you

(_retired_) #18

My current record is three kills with one martyrdom (they all ran towards me for some odd reason  ) and total of five martyrdom kills (counts as melee kills) ine one match. But that was while ago and now it’s all different story. Thing is that unless you’re in really close combat with her you can prevent getting killed by that nade. (If there are two Naders in the same room, neither of one will get out of alive).

And I would say that playing as Nader you get now more targeted with fire before and after you die because folks have learned what kind of menace she can be. Snipers try to pick you out along with phantoms etc. and you definately get finished with gunfire.

That martyrdom does offer some solace sometimes.

It’s so easily avoidable that you are only stupid to get sprayed all over because of that (even though the range of the blast might surprise people). Personally I like that game punishes you mistakes like that.

(moonlitAbility) #19

when i was a noob i hated it, and posted a game rage post like this against it. eventually you will simply associate being close to a nader with badness and avoid it for the most part… and it gives the nader 1 more viable tool for objectives.

edit: plus when you play nader a lot of the time you cxan mistake a medic coming in to rez you as someone you can kill with martrydom, >.<

i do this all the time. it becomes so normal to press f if anyone gets close. If i want to change class next life- f, if i want to scare my friends- f, if i mistake a medic for an enemy- f, you know what? Press f after every life.
