Mysterious Disaster? (DB's plot)

(gg2ez) #1

It is 2020 and the once great city of London stands abandoned after a mysterious disaster, a dilapidated shell of its former self. Now the streets of London are the playground of Private Military Companies (PMCs) who battle to control the city’s abandoned riches. After all, what’s a little radiation sickness when there’s money to be made?

What do you guys think led up to this mysterious disaster? An actual Dirty Bomb doesn’t seem very mysterious so what could it be?

People wouldn’t be running around in it if that was the case! Radiation is kind of a bitch

@Amerika Well, technically one of the trailers says “What’s a little radiation sickness when there’s money to be made?” :stuck_out_tongue:

Just sayin’

(Amerika) #10

Ahh, I didn’t know that. And the game is called Dirty Bomb which could mean that a small nuke was cobbled together, or a few of them, that had a low explosive yield and very localized and somewhat quickly dissipating radiation (outside of the blast zones) which is what might have caused the “mysterious disaster” and allow for people, at least a couple years later, to be in the area without being guaranteed a ton of radiation poisoning.

(Rjsto) #11

Well the setting doesn’t really look nuked though, I imagine the Dirty Bomb disaster was some sort of biological bomb full of… radiation… gas, or something. There’s lot of places where the gas is stored at least, ie. the underground passes in terminal

(JesseKomm) #12

I think it’s just a matter of time until we get some sort of radiation mutant horde mode, don’t you think?

(SteelMailbox) #13

London got bombarded by dirty bombs and then the CDA stepped up to clean the radiation.
The mercs are hired by CDA to carry out hidden agendas.

(neverplayseriou) #14

@steelMailbox must be some op dirty bombs not destroying any buildings :stuck_out_tongue:

(Rjsto) #15

I imagine that the dirty bomb radiation whatever just kills you in contact, so in lore aspect it’s kinda unlikely!

A left for dead style co-op campaign in DB where you fight against a mutated horde would be rather fantastic IMO even if it’s pretty common and bordering on overdone these days in other FPS games.

Please tell me you’re joking.

(Ardez1) #19

A dirty bomb or radiological dispersal device (RDD) is a speculative radiological weapon that combines radioactive material with conventional explosives. The purpose of the weapon is to contaminate the area around the dispersal agent/conventional explosion with radioactive material, serving primarily as an area denial device against civilians. It is however not to be confused with a nuclear explosion, such as a fission bomb, which by releasing nuclear energy produces blast effects far in excess of what is achievable by the use of conventional explosives.

(Verticules) #20

I wouldn’t be surprised if one of the PMCs caused the radiation.
