My review of the new SMG-9.

(SteelMailbox) #1

1st a bit of backstory if you don’t know:
Before the 1st Fine tuning patch the SMG-9 was the worst SMG in the game.
Then came the 1st Fine tuning patch that made the SMG-9 more viable but it was still considered the worst SMG compared to the crotzni which was the GOD of SMG’s.
Now the 2nd find tuning patch is here and boy they made this piece of crap into an angel.

The changes were looking not that great but after playing with my SM72 sawbonez this weapon is so good.
Headshots are a heck of a ton easier to do with this weapon and now this is my SMG weapon of choise.

Post your thought about the new (and improved) SMG-9.

I never used it, so I don’t know how it is.

Anyone know if the Crotzni is good anymore?

(Mister__Wiggles) #3

Crotzni is still good but not the powerhouse it once was. Haven’t used the smg9 yet but I liked it alot before the last patch for the simple fact it was a laser beam and they have only gone and made it even better with the last patch so look forward to trying it out today.

I used proxy with the Smg9. She was so op with it. It’s not the worst smg. I used it before the 2nd tuning patch. Did 30 kills with it 2 days ago.

#5

Ehm… I think you mean the hochfir. Proxy doesn’t have access to the SMG-9.
The SMG-9 is available to mercs like Sawbonez and Nader.

(LifeupOmega) #6

I like the SMG-9, but I’ll wait 'til I get a good card for Sawbonez before using it. I’m still sticking with the standard CR loadout for him for now.

(Jostabeere) #7

It’s still shit. Either use Crotzni or Hochfir. Or KEK.

(SteelMailbox) #8

The SMG-9 is available to only Sawbonez, Nader and bushwacker.

(Eox) #9

Looks like the SM41 loadout for Nader can be considered as her new standard. :stuck_out_tongue:

Hopefully we have now reached a balance between SMGs.

(watsyurdeal) #10

I still prefer the crotzni due to my habit of blitzing people’s faces up close and tap firing at range. SMG 9 seems more spray happy.

(Gi.Am) #11

@Eox What are you talking about I’m running the SM72 for ages. Sure its missing bigger blast, but spare ammunition and chopper + stilleto is just as good. Besides I do have the SM41 aswell but only in bronze. While SM72 comes in both shiny silver variants ^^.

SMG-9 always worked good on Nader, her nade damage makes the lower DPS a non issue.

Love the gun but the superior perks lie with the Crotzni unfortunately.

The nerf to the Crotzni was a paper nerf. Go shoot it at a wall right now at varying distances and laugh at the initial spread pattern…which is what was nerfed by 10%. When you nerf something by “10%” it sounds big but since the initial spread pattern was already tiny barely anything changed for most uses of the gun.

The buffs to other guns were not a huge change but they were a step in the right direction IMO so they are welcome as I prefer slowly building buffs as opposed to kneejerk buffing/nerfing.

The main thing that changed yesterday, and if you used multiple guns you would definitely have seen it, was the severe change in both aimpunch and viewkick. EVERYTHING is incredibly more accurate now in a firefight. At first I thought the LMG was just ridiculous but then I tried the Crotzni, SMG9, Dreiss, Kek and even Rhino’s mini-gun. Everything is way more accurate because viewkick/flinching has been drastically reduced.

(Ghosthree3) #14

It is my understanding that the only reason the Crotzni is better than the SMG-9 is the increased range before fall off. Which is a tiny amount.

In every other regard the guns pretty much seem the same. SMG-9 actually feels a bit more accurate to me.

@Amerika
The K-121 on paper only had a slight buff but in game it is godlike. Also the Driess is alot of fun and the recoil reduction has made it so much easier to use imo. I have naders best loadout with the crotzni and I have noticed it isn’t as accurate and range, up close deviation doesn’t matter anyway. SMG9 at range is insane, the accuracy is rather pleasing. Where are the kek and crotzni require a little bit of bursting at ‘long’ range the SMG9 can drop about 25 bullets before the bloom is noticeable. This is what it feels like to me anyway. The Blishlok is still the ugly duckling out of the smg’s though, people that like it do well with it but 90% of people would prefer the crotzni or kek over it. Thing is I can’t think of a way to balance it, I just hope they don’t nerf the other smgs to make the blishlok more attractive.

You should really read the rest of my post before responding

I did I just never really seen aimpunch as that big of a deal, the patch before this one lowered it to a point that in a gun fight I would only notice it at range. Now it seems like it doesn’t exist what so ever. The bloom reset is my biggest dislike atm, it shows more with the k-121 imo, you get like a 5-10 round burst and let it settle but the bloom doesn’t seem to reset.

@Ghosthree3
I had the same look off my friends when I told them my opinion of aimpunch lol. I just never really noticed it much because im pretty aggressive in my playstyle so im always in CQ where aimpunch is visible but not a big issue. Only time I would notice it would be when im at a range and then I would avoid a battle because I usually use the k-121 or an smg and niether of them (at least before the recent patches) are really that effective at them sort of ranges due to spread or initial accuracy.

The change was absolutely massive and affected every single gun I tried. You are now incredibly accurate with almost everything while in a fight since your view isn’t getting kicked around as much. The changes you noticed have little to do with the buffs/nerfs of the guns. They are, on paper, extremely minor despite the numbers looking big. The LMG feeling “godlike” has almost everything to do with the aimpunch and viewkick changes they put in as you can more easily laser people down who are shooting at you. The extra bullets are great and is easily the biggest buff the gun got but in regards to actual aiming the viewkick and aimpunch changes were pretty significant.

Every single gun now feels “godlike” due to the changes while in a fight.
