My guide to Splash Damage and it's shooter known as Brink
I will give you the same answer I give people when they tell me they don’t like America…

Depending on the reasons they don’t like America that could lead to some hilarious situations.
I have never understood the hate on brink… it was never broken when it released it played fine for me and if you don’t like the game I will give you the same answer I give people when they tell me they don’t like America…

Funny. That’s the same response most people who use oversized text and/or constant caps normally get.

Drop the binary good/bad mode dude, it got old a long time ago (or maybe not in the US ?)
Sometimes, you don’t like something, but you want to make it better because it’s only part of it you don’t like.
Although I get your feeling about gratuitous trolling, the rest is unnecessary display of self-ridicule.
Brink doesn’t need more content, it jut needs to rework a lot of the game mechanics.
I never said they werent there… I just never experienced them all that much… think iv had the sound bug once…
EDIT: I understand hating on the game for not liking the game play but not for gliches that have been all but fixed for most of the community…
Brink doesn’t need more content, it jut needs to rework a lot of the game mechanics.
I honesty would love to hear what you have to say.
Maybe you could read, oh I dunno, this entire forum of BRINK ?
I think you might find one or two posts about what game mechanics are lacking…
No wonder negative threads keep popping up, you guys have absolutly no memory

I didn’t say this thread specifically was a negative thread
just saying with lack of reading and comprehension skills, like yours, the negative posts must be kept on repeat otherwise you’d forget about it and think everything is “a ok”.
hence quote "No wonder negative threads keep popping up, you guys have absolutly no memory "
Crytiqal I have a couple of questions for you
- Do you play BRINK?
- Why are you attacking Azure?
The only thing he said to you was that would love to hear what you have to say.
- I have played BRINK, and on occasion (once every 3 weeks or so) I play it for an hour only to be bored out of my skull
- Asking what game mechanics are lacking, after 3 months of bitching posts on these forums where people are explaining EXACTLY what is wrong with the game mechanics over and over and over again seems to me just retarded
-
Rework weapon mechanics, especially spread and recoil, to function and behave more like SD’s past games. Make more weapons actually feel different and unique and rework ironsights. Ironsighting should grant a bonus when used, but should only really be practical for long ranges. Other than than that, it should be about personal preference.
-
Rework game interactions. The current “lock on to object” mechanic works better in theory than it actually does in the game. Either fine tune it to make make it much more responsive (currently, players can take more time trying to “lock on” than it actually takes to perform the action.) Make it an optional method, like how ETQW had the option to perform various actions with the same button, or remove it all together.
-
Rework the HUD. Including options to remove hud elements or re-size them would be ideal. You can display just as much info on screen (and more) without making them so obtrusive.
-
Body types should have more significant variety, advantages and disadvantages between them, making choosing any of the 3 a viable choice. When the majority of players are choosing 1 body type and/or ignoring one body type (like how it is in Brink now) then you know they need to be rebalanced.
-
Heavy weapons should be devastating. However much advantage speed and mobility give to Light players, heavy weapons should give a similar degree of advantage to Heavy players. As they are now, they simply do not.
-
Offering customization, xp and a leveling up system in an FPS is fine, if done well. Although Brink offers variety in terms of abilities, weapons and appearance, it falls kind of flat when it tries to tie it all together. The sense of accomplishment or the addictiveness (for lack of better word) of wanting to level up and unlock new stuff, isn’t really present in Brink. Leveling up feels more like a chore and less like a fun aspect of the game design. I think SD needs to to either make the FPS or the RPG aspects (or both) of the game more engaging and interesting, so it draws the player in making them want to spend countless hours playing. As it is now, Brink does an okay job with both portions, never really achieving full potential on either.
those are some thoughts I have for improving Brink.

While you expressed many potentially valid points I have to disagree with this one as I’ve posted statistics showing that heavy weapons, specifically the Gotlung, out-performs the CARB-9.

statistics do not account for body types. In other words, a Gotlung may outperform the Carb-9 numbers wise, but the body type needed to use it is outperformed in practically every aspect by Lights and/or Mediums. Boost the lethality/potential of the Heavy body type, then we might be making some progress.

Those points he made are what pretty much every PC elitist “Brink Hattttaaar” has posted hundreds of times over here. Glad you agree with us
.
The term “PC elitist” has been thrown around so much on the internet, that it has lost its original meaning and has more or less just become a derogatory term for, “any PC gamer with more knowledge on a subject/game and/or differing opinions than a console gamer, specifically on subjects that paints the PC as being better than console.” Ironically, many people who call out people as being “PC elitist” have little to no experience with PC gaming or PC’s in general.
I agree with you because it’s true. Brink needs to play more like a PC FPS. SD is/was a PC company that made PC only games, and they were/are good at it. They could have easily made the game more accessible to players across all platforms without comprising too much of their roots. But I suspect Bethesda is more to blame tan SD for those decisions.
