My Biggest Disappointment
Erm I know how a dynamic forum works… there is a huge difference beetween being dynamic and being a mess, and right now it is a mess…
And the solution is to moderate efficiently, not bunch up feedback threads just because you don’t like to read them.

This is the point I’m trying to make.

I have seen at max one other human on both teams per match yesterday, and yesterday I played around 15 of them

Is this becuase of the players being split between different maps between different game-settings, or is this becuase of the domino effect?

EDIT:
Do you think we’ll get more players back when the update/+DLC rolls in? I actually think it will bring up more positive attention to BRINK, and that is well… That is what this game needs right now, and then I mean N-O-W

Brink it’s a game which have got popularity basis only on ET, ET:QW and ME, not by itself. I would like if there has been an option to get my monay back for this PC-shooter made for consoles.
Never played any of those other games, but I think Brink is great.

It could be for a few reasons:

Poor matchmaking
Low playerbase
players spread out over different modes

The third one is stricken automatically if you’re playing on the psn. No one is playing anything but Standard or Big Teams, and it’s /very/ rare to see stopwatch going.

So it’s likely a mix of the first two.

Possibly. Word of mouth can only help so much. Fingers are crossed.

Might have to market the DLC/Update a wee bit more than I do :stuck_out_tongue:

… I just have it sitting there in my bio on XBOXLIVE :l

But then again, the only people who will read that is the people who either want to rep me up, down or send me a hatemail :stuck_out_tongue:

We need to wait for it to be out and active for it to make true impact.

If the DLC comes out and offers a tonne of fixes, improvements, additions, and generally makes Brink into a better supported MP experience, then people could start flooding back.

Until we have the DLC in front of us we’ve got nothing to sell.

(iezza) #88

Remember the buzz before launch BROTHERS?* remember all the buzz, has that gone? no, it has been concentrated into us, the hardcore players of Brink . we <3 brink and all the people that dont, cant see past the wall of lag or minor problems(like “ZOMG the textures dont load in 2 secs or " No wai, why iz ma hedshot no killz himz?” and notice the little nugget of sweetness that is a massive refreshing break from the norm, which allow you to run around like a headless chicken, pull a sniper scope to your eyeball and shoto before its reached with pinpoint accuracy, the only one thing i can say about this, is a nice and concise and well mannered phrase: BULL****! . this game has so much potential, and if SD can fix it soon the influx of players will be large and we shall play BRINK!

*hint hint schwarzeis.

(Azev2000) #89

I hope tons of fixes due come and the game flourishes, but taking into account how long it took to produce so little I don’t think it is going to happen.

Hope I am wrong

Don’t worry, I got it all covered…

(fearlessfox) #91

Right, because we’re just supposed to play a game that feels like it’s caked in mud as it has a poorly optimised engine and netcode.

I love Brink, I just wish it was responsive enough for me to enjoy.

Good call just adding that stuff to your signature because you already say it in every post. So it’s gonna save you some time. Wasn’t PSN down when brink released? How were they supposed to troubleshoot on the network?

(Shotgun Surgeon) #93

Jess you are so damn ridiculous. You cry whenever someone complains about the game. Why? Because you don’t want people who are interested in Brink to see the complaints. When people decide to do some research on Brink, they will come across all these low reviews and the threads on this forum that just bash Brink and SD.

What you fail to understand is that anyone has a right to bash Brink, just like anyone has the right to bash any other game out there. If people purchase something that they do not like, they will voice it. The majority of gamers are casual gamers and the majority of casual gamers do not like this game. Get over it.

By the way, people a month ago who were excited about this game no matter what are now bashing it… what does that tell you? It doesn’t live up to their expectations. Put it’s great to see that people like you love being shafted.

I’m happy with the game. The only thing I have a problem with is people who say. “I want to see Brink succeed. And spend every spare moment campaigning against it.” Air your grievances. But seriously you have to continue to support SD if you want them to have a shred of hope.

You don’t know if bethesda provided splash damage with the funds to take care of issues or if they are running a skeleton crew of people that are getting paid nothing to salvage their reputation.

No one knows the whole story and no one ever will because there’s money involved.

I can only tell you that my step-brother works for a popular game developer that made a very promising game that went through a similar situation as Brink. And their publisher screwed them. They released the game after not having enough staff to even develop the game and more money and time was spent on hyping the game then development. And that choice was made by the publishers. As soon as the game dropped and people started complaining the publisher pulled their support because they didn’t want to deal with all the problems because they had bigger projects to focus on and left my step-brother’s studio holding the bag. That studio almost went under and was swallowed by another studio. He hates working there.

Basically all I’m saying is have a little empathy. You don’t know what in the hell is going on behind closed doors unless you know those guys. And they probably aren’t allowed to talk about it. My step brother’s studio had to sign an agreement saying they wouldn’t badmouth their publisher for stepping out or they wouldn’t get paid.

I’m not saying this is what’s going on with SD. But it’s one of many possibilities. And people need to realize that an excellent studio like SD wouldn’t just release a crap product on purpose. There has to be something else going on.

They had an additional year to work on the game.

Its hard to have empathy when you feel the people you handed money over to deceived you. Maybe it was Bethesda’s fault. So should we just accept a product we are unsatisfied with allow them to continue doing what they are doing. It sucks that SD will take a hit in there rep for this terrible release, but they are also at fault for not being able to deliver a proper game in the time they estimated. They actually were even given an extra year.

Please do not go into the fact that I don’t know what it takes to make a game and that things come up that are unexpected. I do not care nor should any customer who purchases there product. We pay a price for others to worry about those things. I’m sure all the guys and gals at SD are top notch quality individuals, but this is business. When I hand you money I expect a quality product. If you fail to deliver then prepare to be trampled by the other 100 people behind you trying to sell me the quality product I was looking for.

(St NickelStew) #97

I think I did get a quality product. I was so hyped about Brink I purchased three copies (and gave two away as gifts) for the pre-order bonuses. An XBL friend randomly game me the fourth (therefore, I have all pre-order bonuses).

I think I got a great game. Bethesda is a great publisher, arguably the best in the industry in my opinion. This game will be supported by Splash Damage, for whom this is literally “their baby”, and by Bethesda. Together they have already revealed that the first DLC will be free.

Wrinkles are being ironed out (360 patch was available this morning), and will continue to be ironed out as more patches come our way (for example, along with the DLC next month). I do kind-of wish that more people were hanging around to play the game, but those that do hang around are going to be some quality folks.

Well our little group has each other. Was it an actual download? The patch?

(St NickelStew) #99

Yes it was, longer than I expected, too. Don’t know what all was in it, but surely some effort to reduce lag issues. I got into a freeplay game on the second menu choice down (I forget its name) that was relatively lag-free for the first time ever. But I just tried once before coming in to work.

(Jess Alon) #100

I think microsoft cascades their patches. What time what is when you got the patch? Because I got a really long patch when I started my xbox like 3 days before brink came out. It was actually today when you started brink? I’m checking now.

(St NickelStew) #101

I played last night – no patch.

I played this morning – patch.

I got the game day-of-release, and there was a short update then. Whatever this was this morning was longer.

– ??? –

All I know is something should be better now.
