My Biggest Disappointment

(Jess Alon) #1

Hasn’t been Brink. It’s been the people who a month ago said they would love this game no matter what anyone said about it. They are the same people who are in a hurry to shovel dirt onto this game and bury it in an early grave as it’s just been born.

It’s a prime example of our “never satisfied” generation.

Especially my fellow americans. We crap all over other people because we think our personal opinion is priority. We think if we spend money on something and we don’t get exactly what we want then we should slander the people who sold us those goods instead of letting them make things right in due time. And anyone who defends them is fair game to be spoken to however you feel.

I thought I would have an amazing community that focused on teamplay. But instead I’ve seen nothing but complaints. Minus the dudes I play with every single day. They aren’t complaining. We rock Brink for hours.

There’s nothing with voicing your grievances at all. But some people register names like “Brink Lags”. What meaning will that name have when the name is fixed? That person did that for attention. “Unsatisfied Customer” What if paul wedgewood sends you a barrel of puppies and an anger hoody and some other cool stuff? Then you look like a jerk.

If you’re not happy fine. But stop making your entire identity about not being happy. Because I don’t only say good things about SD. But I don’t spend every second of my day trying to figure out how to specifically word a scathing review of Brink.

The people who are saying the community is dying are also part of the problem. You kill the community with your negativity and ignorance. I don’t care who hates me for writing this. You know I’m right.

Have a nice day.

There are cool guys on this forum, they just sit back and comment in the threads that make sense. And are mostly playing the game. I’ve already made some cool friends here and on some other game sights about Brink. In a few weeks the haters will move on hopefully.

Don’t feed the trolls.

With respect, you are talking bollocks.
The game has been a terrible disappointment, especially on pc. Many of us had great hopes. I preordered a few copies for my friends. Never again. Another nail in the pc shooter coffin. Even without the performance problems the game itself is a limited, funnelled and mostly joyless experience. I have played to level 15 but just out of stubborness. Ill leave it there. A couple of patches on and a number of GC hotfixes and it still looks and plays terrible. Wish this was not the case.
Stick a fork in its ar$e and turn it over.
Its done.

^ding ding ding! We got a winner

My biggest disappointment is Brink, because it’s not a good game

(Jak Swift) #7

Jess i agree, Im sure i was in a game with you recently. Jak Swift ring any bells?

(Shadedluck) #8

You are right. As someone who has followed this game for forever, I feel like the people who 3 weeks ago were saying “I can’t wait, this is gonna be the best game ever!” should wait a little while for some patches. This game IS amazing, if some people can’t play it because of reasons(their computer isn’t the greatest, or they can’t play due to lagg, etc) I’m sorry. They’ll fix it, and they’re giving out free DLC in June. What more do you want? Them to apologize? They have. You want them to refund you? Tough ****, the Gaming Sales Business doesn’t work like that, unless you want about 25$ from Gamestop. If you’re on PC? You get the game for life, if you don’t like it now, try it out again in a couple of weeks/months, see if it’s more to your liking.
You knew exactly what chances you were taking when you bought a game/ or preordered the game. There was a possibility you weren’t going to like it, if this happened to be the case, then sorry, but you should have waited and checked out some new gameplay. kali, just because you happened to not be able to play it, doesn’t mean it’s done. It means it wasn’t to your liking. The game plays fine, even on my just a little past minimum PC requirements computer. If it doesn’t work on yours, I don’t know what to tell you. The game IS good, try it out in a while.

When? Did you have fun?

(Mustang) #10

I’m still in the “this is the best game ever” camp

(Jess Alon) #11

I feel the same. There’s a lot that can be fixed and it will get better.

One trend I’ve noticed on these boards are people acting like they adore Brink but then backhandedly trashing Brink relentlessly. Then going back to saying “I’m objective, I’m fair. I want Brink to do well.”, then trashing Brink.

It’s like “I love my wife and I want to treat her better” and you beat her some. “We’re in counselling and she’s a great wife. She has flaws but she’s gonna get better soon.” Spit in her face.

So backhanded. I can’t respect that.

I dont want to ruin your fun. Play Brink if you like it. But please watch the trailers and developer interviews and than check out brink. Its not the peoples fault that they are not statisfied. Its brinks fault and the way they advertised it. If it was a 20 buck low budget game on Steam than noone would care. But brink was praised a lot and for me its not the revolution AAA title. Its not even a good shooter.

never statisfied generation out

xD “There’s a lot that can be fixed” yes alway a sign for great quality

Seems pretty damn close to the trailers, imho.

Yeah watch a lot of “Trailers” and then play the game and tell me how many differences you can spot. You think RAGE is gonna look like it does in the previews on the xbox? Doubtful.

Did you ever hear Wedgwood yell over and over. This is exactly how it will look! This is how it will look cross platforms.

If you didn’t see PAX footage before you picked up your preorder that’s your problem. I knew what I was getting.

My biggest disappoint is delusional people in both the best game ever and worst game ever camps.

The game is far from what was expected. Some of it people can overlook some of it they can’t. In the end it’s not the people being negative that made 20,000+(on pc during primetime) people decide it wasn’t worth playing. The game simply was rushed and as a result is not as advertised in its released/current state.

Oh by the way not everything is black and white in fact most things aren’t. You can have the best wife ever but out point lots of flaws.

(Jak Swift) #16

Yea i think it was container city, some time yesterday. might i add i love this game, just needs a few tweaks

(eMwegA) #17

because other companies cheat on their footage it makes cheating on brinks footage okay? valid argument… And if they show ingame scenes, yes im that stupid, i thought that those scenes were really what brink would look like. im a pc user btw. cant even play brink on native resolution on my 22" tft xD (HD 5870 E8400@3.0ghz)
Im not only talking about graphics. I just expected more. for example: In one trailer they said “Sp and Mp will merge in Brink creating a revolutionary online expirience” (something like that) now tell me this was not a lie?!

Edit: The black and white thing is correct. But think about the issues ppl having. I can only play in low res bahhhh mode. im “black” and i think i have every right to be there

Yeah but silly me. I love my wife in spite of her flaws and don’t stand around pointing her flaws out to her all the time. That’d make me an asshole wouldn’t it? And when my wife messes up I forgive her for it because I know she can do better because she’s that good because her past has proven it.

I just think it’s funny that people were so committed to this game and now they are like “Nope! You don’t get a chance to fix it!” Even though most games have bad launches. When Brink’s a success I’ll say I told you so.

If it’s not then I’ll still play it with my friends that understand the point of the game and aren’t hung up on all the other stuff.
