My Biggest Disappointment

I can’t read this. Can someone translate what this guy is saying for me? It all looks like that code stuff like in the matrix.
Hasn’t been Brink. It’s been the people who a month ago said they would love this game no matter what anyone said about it. They are the same people who are in a hurry to shovel dirt onto this game and bury it in an early grave as it’s just been born.

It’s a prime example of our “never satisfied” generation.

stopped reading at this point.

generation? there is people of different age groups here from 13-30+ who see the problems with this game. im sure theres 40+ too!

There ya go. Found one thing you didn’t like and dismissed me. Have a nice night.
The numbers are dropping; I’m raising concern, not making predictions. Please read my posts clearly before replying.

And reviews, the fanbois convenience: when they work in favour they’re quoted all over, when they work against they’re dismissed as worthless.

GG.
I see what you mean now, but I still think it’s too early to makes conclusions, or raise concern (however you want to put it), Brink needs more time.

As for reviews I pretty much dismiss all of them, I like to make my own conclusions, but I was trying to point out that reviews aren’t always truthful. But if you want to twist my words to make you feel better sure I’m a fanboi and Brink is the best game in the world

You know what I just realized that all the people that are predicting this doom remind me of?

Yeah…
I dont want to ruin your fun. Play Brink if you like it. But please watch the trailers and developer interviews and than check out brink. Its not the peoples fault that they are not statisfied. Its brinks fault and the way they advertised it. If it was a 20 buck low budget game on Steam than noone would care. But brink was praised a lot and for me its not the revolution AAA title. Its not even a good shooter.

never statisfied generation out

xD “There’s a lot that can be fixed” yes alway a sign for great quality :D
agreed it should look like it did two years ago thats my biggest disappointment its looks thats about all

but i do agree with jess the game is great, i play it for hours the lagg has beem killing me, so i change matches and pray on the loading screens (which has helped alot i must say)

i love the game, since it came out i played it (DAY 1: the earth was made, and the lagg issues where there to follow) but it will all be fixed i understand this, the turnout was amazing, the reviews are crap because reviewers where liek WheREs the TEam DeAth MMatch gize!!! this isnt CoD At ALL so ImA have TUh dislLIekz it

this is the only game i have played for 2 weeks (since day 1) but i do hope it all gets sorted out (prolly played this game like 75 hours plus [ido have a life its just centered around my xbox] amd i think its much over 75 hours now that i think about it)

but as a general the game is freakin sweet and i havent lost hope of what it will develope into

AND IF PAUL WEDGEWOOD SENT ME A BARREL FULL OF PUPPIES THAT WOULD BE AWFUL!!! (theyd prolly all be dead from being in a cargo hold in a no oxygen envornment of 75,000 feet) and if they werent dead ii would be angrier WHAT WOULD I DO WITH A BARREL FULL OF PUPPIES (i would enjoy an anger hoodie can anyone find me one on the interwebz??)

It’s not too early to raise concern. The online numbers are dropping fast and the majority opinion seems to be “Brink, maybe later if at all”.

Look around outside of Brink centric communities, there is no longer a buzz and most people have moved passed it in complete dismissal.

Of course it’s too early to write it off, but if you’re not concerned you’re boundlessly optimistic.

As for the rest…

Apologies, I’ve had my fair share of people jumping on my posts dismissing them entirely as anti-rants when I’m simply discussing a game I’ve invested a lot of time in and I’d like to see improved.

Shouldn’t have let it brush off on you, my bad.

You do realize that you contribute to the problem of these dwindling numbers when you never seem to discuss any of the positive sides to brink? And they are multiple.

I realize some of the numbers going down is due to brink having a terrible launch with lag and whatnot. And you have a right to complain. But some people are straight up yelling fire in the crowded theater at this point just so everyone else will leave too.

I’m just seriously surprised you haven’t turned on Sony too. I mean they kind of dropped the ball. Their network was down for how long? I don’t see you getting an xbox. Or going to PC. Because you probably believe Sony can take care of the problem. Even though their network was completely out of commission. And they started a new network from scratch and got hacked AGAIN. Soooo. Why can you forgive a company that went out of commission and didn’t provide service at all? But not SD? And don’t say because PSN is free. Because PSN should be free for as much as they charge for those consoles. So where’s your spirit of patience and forgiveness?

Where’s the love dawg?

Your analogy is wrong again. How can you not see that you are comparing two different things? A correct analogy would be: We bought a PS3 wich turned out to be more like a ps2. Even two weeks after release no patch to PS3. I would not blame the one getting the Xbox 360 and flaming the ps3 forums.

The psn problems occur after years of FUN with my PS3 (would they hack psn, just the second you bought the ps3, than you would complain too and buy a xbox.)

Its also bs to say, “you dont blame sony”. of course. everyone is mad, everyone did. But exchanging a console with all the games i bought so far is a little bit harder than to trash brink and enjoy another fps instead.

The game wasnt ready for release, simple as that.

OBVIOUS bugs were apparent within 1-2 hours of play. Weapon and body type balance issues noticable within 10 hours of play. And map balance issues pretty obvious within a few more.

How is it that I find all these issues within 15 hours of play… and they had 3 years to test and get it right, and couldnt fix these most obvious of isssues? ANSWER: game isnt finished. Its easy to see why people are pissed.

If your only complaint is that it had bugs at release (it did, most have been fixed now and it seems patches will be frequent) and imbalances (which aren’t gamebreaking, it only means you don’t have as many efficient weapon and body choices as you should, and patches will fix this), then I guess you agree that we’re still left with a really awesome game that will only improve?

It is of course annoying that you want to play it now, but just leaving it alone for a month won’t be any different for you than if they had released at a later game when it was “ready”.

Seriously, all these complaints about a rough release are really superficial - they’ll be fixed soon, all you have to do is not get so worked up about it in the meantime and play some other game instead.

The gameplay in Brink is awesome. I personally find it so good that I don’t mind that it feels like I have only 1 body type and 2 weapons to choose from. I could even live with not having sound 25% of the time as it was prepatch. But that’s me, others are free to wait until patches have adressed everything.

If you really don’t like the game - and I’m sure this type of game isn’t for everyone, just like many find the ability to totally dominate other FPS games with nothing but headshot skills superficial, taste varies - then that’s fine, there are other games. But if your only complaint is bugs and balance, then what you’re really saying is “this game will be awesome in a few weeks”. So chill out and wait a few weeks instead of spreading all this vitriol.

Well said, i was one of these hopefuls … What a disappointment, i cant enjoy the game at all, no atmosphere, pointless spawn-die style shooter, “parcour” buggy as h*ll and many more make the game a painful affair. I’m not even sure what could be done to fix this …

Ah yes, thats it. :frowning:

(Kalbuth) #55

If you play lemmings in the game, ofc it’s going to be boring

question : what shooter do you actually like, and what are his strong points?

(Tear 08) #57

No sh** the game has problems, which I could b**ch about considering the delays, and then the week early release, but whatever, sh* happens, mistakes are made, and so are amends…eventually…

But I can understand people going overboard with the b**ching, I mean as they’ve said time and time again, they did pay for this game, just as the rest of us did, don’t see us going crazy with the complaints now do you…(?)…but their complaints, mostly, are fair, even if they are regurgitated a million and one times here…

My only actual complaint is that in order to play BRINK in it’s best form, I have to play the waiting game while it sits there…ah well, when the few niggling problems are fixed, I’ll play the hell out of it…I mean it is fun as it is, it could just be a lot better, and give Splash enough time it will be…

(fearlessfox) #58

The problem is, will there be a community left to play it when it’s up to par?

I really hope so.

I’ll be moving to the PC version in the future if the community stablises, and I’m not going to trade in my copy of the ps3 version. I’m going to support SD even though my lack of faith in them is telling me not to.

I still tell my friends to buy Brink and give it a shot. I still tell people first and foremost that it’s a very good game.

Let’s cross our fingers, shall we?

Actually I was poking fun at fearlessfox. Anyone else who’s seen me with him interact in other threads has seen the running gag. I generally listen to what people have to say and that is why have 4 stars next to my name already. But I also don’t go around calling myself a damn white knight.

(Tear 08) #60

Not a b**ch comment here, but I’m just saying, I don’t need a million and one people playing BRINK for me to enjoy it, all I need is…hmm, 15 other people? Sounds good to me, all I need is to find a match, if it’s with the same people all the time so be it…

(fearlessfox) #61

While this is very true in essence, a thriving community relies on more than just you and your friends playing each other over and over again.

The same people will just become predictable.

Plus how about getting a team together and taking on unknown quantities? That’s part of the /major/ thrill of competitive gaming.

There’s a big difference between logging into a private server and a pub, and both are required for many of us to enjoy an online game.
