My 2 cents on ET

Hi all!

I’ve been playing ET intensively for a week now, and i must say i love it. It’s GREAT! and it kicks old RTCW’s ass because of the new classes, XP system, etc… the game is much more complete and fun !!

A possible bug report:

When planting landmines, something weird happens at times: you plant the mine, then it automatically switches you to rifle, and you end up shooting a grenade on your feet because you were already hitting FIRE to arm the landmine. This is very annoying, and only happens at times. IMO, after planting the landmine you should always get the tool ready in your hand.

A couple of suggestions / thoughts:

-I think it would be more fair and realistic if defending team was given a little extra time before the game begins to actually prepare a defense, ie deploy landimes, build MGs etc… this could be done during the WARMUP stage or something. 30 seconds would be nice. Since the defending team is supposed to be holding a position, it makes sense to actually be ready when the enemies come ( and have their first wave blasted away just like in real war).

-Request: SHOTGUN!!! i think all old school doom players and etc would love to have a pump action shotgun available, probably for soldiers: lethal damage at close range, flying shells fun at long range!!! If i’m correct, pump-action shotguns existed long before WW2 and probably even WW1. The shotgun would make an excellent weapon for indoor assault and defense and would make those bunker battles even more exciting!!!

Well I think you’re an Axis player if you’re talking about extra time for the defending team. But I think this would make most of the maps unplayable for the Allied Teams. Best example is Seewall Battery ! You want extra time for this map ? Then the Allies can go swimming all the time

It seems if you’re near enemies you always whip out a gun. THe other day on beach I was a cov. ops and was going to blow the assault ramp with a satchel charge, I got the charge on the bridge and it switched me to my sten instead of the detonator. Needless to say, the guy running up the ramp killed me by the time I got done shuffling through my pockets trying to find the detonator.

Hmm well, the first wave would go over swimming… which would be more realistic than having allies run into the bunker in 30 seconds… think about it, allies win seawall battery 80% of time, they have command post and axis do not (because they cant go out the back door or covert ops + eng will blow the gun control in 1 minute), the upper MG bunker is useless because it can be nuked with panzerfausts right away, the lower bunker MG is a grenade hole, and allies have a perfect position for mortar fun at the beach… it is just absurd that the beach cannot be mined. Think also about Oasis, the allies get into the Old city in less than 1-2 minutes usually… Goldrush and Fueldump are more fair because axis actually have time to prepare the base defense while the allies are crossing the bridge (but then the defenses are absurd because an engineer can do an unrealistic jump from the roof to the fuel dump and bypass the fortification).

Well I wouldn’t consider myself as N00b but 80% Allied wins ? I am playing on the wrong servers :???:

Or perhaps i’m lining up with the dumbest axis teams :drink:

Allies only win seawall battery easily if there’s no close defense of the gun controls. It only takes one person prepared to babysit the gun controls and call for backup if necessary to make the contest much more even.

Similarly with Oasis: if the Axis concentrate on defending the Old City instead of rushing off to the front immediately then they can both curb the Allied advance and allow time for base defences to be prepared.

All it takes is a little less battle frenzy on the part of the side playing defence.

Let me ask you this. Do you use a mouse wheel to select your weapons? Or better yet maybe you dont use it but is it turned off(the mouse wheel)?

Add or edit this line in your etconfig.cfg file:

seta cg_noAmmoAutoSwitch “0”

I never suffer this problem. I think there’s another thread about this somewhere.

Nah, I don’t use the mousewheel[/quote]

Forgot to say I mean i don’t use to select weapons, i rather use it as Switch to Alternate (silencer, rifle grenade, etc)
