Hi!
I edit my frag movies to fit the music.
So, it’s cool if you can get some slow, eery music, like the harmonica from the Leone film “The Man With The Harmonica”, for you ultra slow-motion head shot sequencies. And fast paced techno or speed metal (remember "the dual guitar solo from “Fast as a Shark” by Accept?) for that frag-fest parts of your movie.
Another tip: use peer-to-peer networks (ie DC++) and search for audio and use the search terms “quotes” and “movie”. You’ll find lots of famous quotes from films, like “Hasta la Vista, baby!”. Add a few (not too many) of these quotes to your frag film.

Anything that matches the feel of the movie. Faster music during the more frenetic action will make it seem more intense. Don’t leave the music fast all the time or you will lose the effect.

I assume you’re editing the movie to have peaks and troughs in the action, so set the music to follow that.

Personally, anything by Fear Factory would sound good. Check out “Demanufacture”'or “Shock”. And Strapping Young Lad’s “Detox”. I’d go with anything heavy and fast.

Though, if you wanna try something different, Beethoven’s Fifth or the 3rd movement of his Moonlight Sonata could be interesting.

I do like these ET movies, but aren’t you breaching copyright laws by
using bands music, film dialogue snippets etc?

I wouldn’t like to see you in trouble with those ‘recording industry of America’ people! ( R.I.A.A. ? )

In a word: SLAYER!

I made a movie of myself as an Axis Rambo Medic and used Angel of Death by Slayer, which is about Josef Mengele. I found it to be fitting.

If it was me, I’d go for something different. 99% of vids made use either speed metal or techno. I once made a vid of me medding it up in RTCW with an Eminem song for the soundtrack. Seemed to work well. The best vid I ever made had “Life in a Glass House” on Radiohead’s Amnesiac album for the soundtrack.

<rant>
And while we’re talking about vids, could someone involved please make it a little easier to make them? I mean you’ve gotta go into a lengthy process to make these suckers, with exporting 8 bajillion screenshots then compiling them into an avi. Then u have to edit these things. And forget about keeping the original game sounds. S’just too much effort.

Here’s what I want. A cvar to turn on a “timecode” in a demo, and the ability to play a piece of a demo from point to point within the demo using timecode reference points. And get ready for this! Have it spit out an avi file (it doesn’t have to be compressed or anything fancy) that includes the ambient sounds that you played with originally.

eh i dunno, i was gonna use some vespa (techno)

But then im all torn about other music, but pantera was one of the top three on my list, im not a big fan of slayer its too angry…

 im a happy person, sorta :disgust:

but, i was gonna kinda edit the video when i was finishing up to go along with the music, or at least try too, ive never gone that far into the whole music thing when makin a video.

but i was also seriously considering tool or NIN. big time fan a them!

The Chemical Brothers, or Tool, both good :drink:

Techno would be cool NIN or tool definetly 2 of my favs. Personally i like the heavy adrenalin pumpin action of heavy metal. Goes great with a nice fast paced frag vid. And i seriously doubt the R.I.A.A is watching for copy right infringments in a video made by a player.

ramstein !! :rocker2:

(Bludd) #12

I’m a happy person too, and watching movies of myself rambo-medding and killing a dozen enemies per spawn while Slayer screams about killing and torture and death makes me even happier

Jahahaha!

(The_Jesus_Zeppelin) #13

:frowning:

You make me sad!

i think im definatly gonna go with NIN which song…thats another story.

and half way throgh im gonna fade into some other song, the videos length its 8:46 so i think i have time for two. for the second song i might go with radioheads knives out.

Nah, as long as you don’t make any money off it they don’t care.

:this is the song that never ends yes it goes on and on my friends. some people started singing it and then the ALL DIED BECAUSE I KILLED THEM AND THEIR FAMILEIS!!!

whenever i hear a song liek that, i remember all the worst songs in the world then i tend to get really angry and black out.

(WarAdmiral) #19

Metallica - Die Die Die My Darling
Metallica - Better Than You
Marilyn Manson - The Fight Song (cut parts and make the intro with it) certain parts of the death song might work as well.

those work very good as backgroundmusic to a fragmovie.

(Bludd) #20

If you’re going to use Die, My Darling, use the original by the Misfits. Finding a quality copy of it won’t be possible though, since the original sounds like it was recorded in someones bedroom  but you could add some flanger or phasing effects to it to make it sound unusual.
