How would a multi level map work if you have objs on different floors and viewing the compass…etc. Is there a way to define a floor or something and switch the view or auto switch when at the floor? Haven’t really looked into that to much and thought someone might now or if no way and single leveled maps are the focus.
Multi level maps and the compass
I beleive not. I’m guessing they went for a more realistic approach of only ever having a map of the ground and structures like you would from aerial. You have to learn your way around inside.
ET is clearly aimed ta maps in large open areas and lots of long range combat. All the new weapons don’t really sit well indoors. Like the mobile MG42s - they could block off corridors so easily. And the mortars are clearly designed for outdoor assault. Mines only work on terrain, etc. I don’t think we’ll be seeing many indoor maps for ET. Which is a shame because it means there’ll only be half as many great custom maps.
I think wether we see more maps indoors on ET is totally up to the preference of the map maker.
I think theres plenty of weapons what will work well indoors.
Yeah, but as a mapper myself, I know one thing to consider is that people like different weapons. Not everyone wants to use just the close combat weapons. If you want your map to be popular, you have to cater to all tastes, and in ET that generally means larger, more outdoorsy maps. Even the close combat weapons aren’t very close combat styled - the SMGs have had their rate of fire drastically reduced, so they no longer have such an advantage at close quarters. It’s possible for someone with a fast finger to shoot the pistol or rifle faster than the smg.
And the lack of location names and the overhead map mean that playing on multilevel structures will be annoying for medics and LTs.
