Movement Speed

(badman) #21

Negative. Any links to or discussion of assets that have not been officially released will be removed.

(AnthonyDa) #22

Maybe he is just referring to the latest vid fapping diary or whatever it’s been called.

(Kinjal) #23

Sorry folks, its not a best place to post a leaked video, but dont worry its just a next part of Develop diary, so u see it very soon. But god damn SD, why all Ark citizens have a Parkinsons disease?(0:20-0:25).

(Stray) #24

What seen cannot be unseen.

What about the “unofficial” video for this forum, where we can see the game by an experienced players who will use all the features of the S.M.A.R.T? Maybe 6v6 stopwatch match wtih real people, not bots.

(Ragoo) #25

There was a leaked diary video with italian subtitles on youtube yesterday. Don’t remember what exactly it was about, no new info about gameplay tho

Fun fact about UT3

Console version runs at 100% gamespeed.
Pc version runs at 110% gamespeed.

That’s why the respawn of the shieldbelt is 54 real world seconds instead of 60.

Problem with changing the movespeed is that it effects everything, how fast you jump/slide. What jumps etc you can make on levels. Basically a level designer’s worst nightmare.
So I don’t expect much change in that regard this late in development, although there’s other factors that can dramatically change your “perception of speed”. Faster framerate (videos normally stuck at 30fps so game will appear slower than it really is) and fov(try running with the sniper scope on).

(SebaSOFT) #27

hidein: Your are right, mostly, but using fraps and video cams actually skip frames to match the 14 or so fps of the video file, so it’s more likely the speed we see in the videos is the actual one.

(Apples) #28

Herm, just saying I and a few others pointed this speed problem monthes ago, if its not changed, it’s cuz they doesnt want to  Welcome in turtelland!

(SebaSOFT) #29

IMHO there are two ways to effectively differentiate movement speeds across body types, each with their own walk, run a sprint speeds. Having say,… ETQW, as a basis:

[ul]
[li]Number one: speed everything up, but light body running will be like the RoadRunner®[/li][li]Number two: slow the heavy, even the medium at walking speed and speed up the light body a little[/li][/ul]

Of course, fine tunning is a lot more complex than that

Did we ever see the light in action tho?, my bet is that eaven the light is kinda slow for PC players, but I might be wrong and wont comment further

(MODERNSAiNT) #31

thats whats normally changed when people playtest, if it feels comfortable at the moment it may feel comfortable in game, however in regards to changing speed etc of server settings there are always going to be problems with this

(Joshua Morrison) #32

I have never played ETQW… that being said the speed looked a little fast IMO I have seen a couple of clips where characters move 10 feet in less than a second…looks glitchy and worries me a bit because of how cheap it will be for the light class but the truth is I completely trust the team and I’m sure it will be great. I agree with almost everything I have read about the game so far and I doubt they will make any huge mistakes.

(AnthonyDa) #33

yes http://brinkthegame.com/features/freedom/

(H0RSE) #34

That’s old footage. They even said they boosted the speed since then, so why would you even post that? It’s like you purposely want to misinform people.

(AnthonyDa) #35

Ho noes, posting an OFFICIAL video found on the official website is misinforming people now …

(H0RSE) #36

You made no mention to the fact that the speed has been boosted since then, official video or not. It’s almost like you intentionally didn’t mention it, just so more people would agree with you that the game is too slow.

(Apples) #37

cmon Horse, maybe you like the speed, tony was obviously trolling, but the speed is still not at all enjoyfull for me and some others

it’s not like someone care anyway :open_mouth: lets stop beating dead horses (no offence ;))

(BomBaKlaK) #38

so it seem like 99% of the pc players feel the game as slow !!
So …

Give us some News SD !!
Same speed on console and PC ?
What about PC footage ?
and What about pc player ? (they have money to !!!)

There is only news for console player !!! bit desapointed !!

do you still make some pc games ?

(SockDog) #39

I’ll just say I consider speed and gameplay tweaks as part of the “we know PC gaming and PC controls, right now we have to show we can get controllers right as that’s harder” line. What was the last game that thought mouse and keyboard support was a feature?

Me being fine with the speed is irrelevant. Even if I thought the game was super slow, I would have still called him out on not giving all the facts, or the “benefit of the doubt,” instead of posting a link and giving false representation of the game.
