Mouse not working correctly when keyboard is used

(Magik) #1

Anybody ever had the same problem?

I have new hardware and now if i play et the keyboard seems to block the mouse so that i cannot move it around. It seems to get worse the higher my ping is on a server. In local mode there are no problems. If I stand still and don’t press any key then the mouse moves completly normal but if i press any key the movement gets “rough”.

Both mouse and keyboard are connected via usb using an adapter.

I’d try using a conventional ps2 connection for either or both devices.

Unfortunately that’s not possible my computer does not have a ps2 port.

Try not using the ‘adapter’ (?)

(Magik) #6

With or without the adapter does not make any difference. It seems to be somehow connected to the network card, because there are no problems in other “local” games or local et sessions.
I tried driver updates and everything I could think of so far except reinstalling the whole system. :frowning:

I encountered this very problem when using the Microsoft Intellitype keyboard driver. Uninstalling it solved the problem.

Do all your special keys still worK? I had a similar problem with my ms natural until i plugged in to both the usb and ps/2 ports :???:

ditch the mouse, and just use the keyboard for aiming :stuck_out_tongue:

No, when the Intellitype drivers are uninstalled, the special keys no longer work. But, choosing between those and proper mouse control, I choose the latter.

Hrm, I suspect that’s also what’s behind the strange lockups I get once and a while when I press c and x together by accident and the topshot and stat windows both come up at once.

(no_shad) #12

Maybe you have hardware conflicts Magik, try running msinfo32 and check Conflicts/Sharing and IRQs for your ‘USB’.

The topshot/stat crash is a limitation/bug in the q3 engine…I think

I think so but at the moment I dunno how to solve them. I think for an ACPI system it’s normal that a lot of devices share IRQ 9/11 and normally this should be no problem.
