Mouse is very important,isn't it?

(Valkir) #1

I have a question. What are the cmds in cfg to improve mouse snsivity,beside sensivity and MouseAccel. I’d like to have my mouse more precise. :smiley:

(ToasterKing) #2

I usually just fire this up in the console “Cg_Aimbot 1” that works for me… Everyone has their own style tho.

(Valkir) #3

Hmm…I didnt mean cheats.

(fretn) #4

type m_ <press your tab key> in the console

(pack) #5

and cg_bob (tab) put to 0

// Mouse Settings
// //		Inputs
seta in_mouse 1		// Enables Mouse
seta cl_freelook 1		// Enables Mouse Freelook
seta m_filter 1		// Smoother movement

// //		Binds
bind mouse1 "+attack"	// Attacks
bind mouse2 "+moveup"	// Jumps
bind mouse3 "kill;wait 10;say_teamnl ^7meh^2!^7self^2k^7illed" 	// The dreaded /kill

// //		FoV Switcher - (c) pgh.
bind mwheelup "cg_fov 90;sensitivity 20"
bind mwheeldown "cg_fov 120;sensitivity 30"

From my current config.

Also;

cl_mouseaccel 0
cg_drawgun 0 (If you can adjust to playing with this the difference can be noticed.)

Which mouse you use is even more important. My ‘skills’ increased a lot when I bought a Logitech MX 500 mouse, they’re the best. You really don’t want to be fighting with a crappy ball-mouse.

(Fusen) #11

pfff strokes lovly mx700 ;x

400

(pgh) #12

Really gotta get me one of those :slight_smile: Seem to be really popular.

I use a MS Wireless Balless mouse and it is the worst thing for gaming ever. It sticks, lags, consistantly running out batteries… it actually would probably move smoother if I use my arse as a mousepad tbh. Any cheap webbys for a decent mouse pad + Logitech Mx’s? Been reconmended them for the past few weeks from peeps… cant see em in shops here tho. (Checked only Argos, Dixons and local game shops… all we got).

(mouse) #13

I use a mx 500 too, its great, combined with my icemat its a deadly force :stuck_out_tongue: Nah but it helps to aim a bit better, cause im not such a great 1 on 1 player :slight_smile:

(Kendle) #14

I use a Microsoft 5-button Intellimouse Optical thingy, which is great. Optical is best, but not cordless as they lag and become erractic when the batteries are low. 5-button is better as it allows you to do more stuff without taking your fingers off your movement keys.

I also prefer a lower sensitivity with a little mouse acceleration to allow me to react. I use:-

seta sensitivity 2.8
seta cl_mouseaccel 0.16

I’d also recommend, if you don’t already, setting the bob variables to eliminate “bounce” when you move.

seta cg_bobup "0.00"
seta cg_bobpitch "0.00"
seta cg_bobroll "0.00"
seta cg_runpitch "0.00"
seta cg_runroll "0.00"
seta m_pitch "0.01501"
seta m_yaw "0.022"

The last 2 are to comply with Punkbuster restrictions whilst giving you the least vertical sensitivity possible compared to horizontal.

…MMmmmm lovely mouse …

(GlUeYeS1) #16

i also use the logitech mx 500, just make sure you remember to charge it, cause you dont want to be fighting with some 1 and mouse dies, that sucks…My dumbass always forgets to charge it :banghead:

(mouse) #17

Hmm can be just me, but a mx 500 isnt wireless i thought, i thought that was the mx700. :???: Btw Kendle, didnt even knew you could set vertical and horizontal sensitivity, are that the pitch and yaw settings? If so then i need to experiment with it, cause i have to much horizontal movements i think, while vertical is fine.

(Hydra) #18

You probably have the 700, the MX 500 is not wireless. Non-wireless are a bit better for gaming because they’re lighter and you don’t run out of power.

The MX series by Logitech have a special ‘MX’ sensor. It has both a higher resolution and updates faster than the other mouses do. YMMV, but most consider the MX series to be the best gaming mouse.

m_pitch and m_yaw determine vertical and horizontal “sensitivity” respectively, however recommended Punkbuster checks stipulate m_yaw must equal 0.022 (the default anyway but I put it in my config just in case) and m_pitch must be outside the range +0.015 to -0.015.

The reason for this is that if it were within these limits it would be possible, in theory, to “lock” your crosshair at head height, so making headshots easier. In practise it wouldn’t work that well as in ET there are not that many flat horizontal surfaces and it would severly restrict your ability to shoot enemies above and below you, so probably of little value anyway. The reason -0.015 is checked as well as +0.015 is to account for people who use an inverted mouse.

I set mine to 0.01501, as do most Clan players, so as to get the best of both worlds, slightly reduced vertical sensitivity whilst remaining within Punkbuster restrictions. In practise you’d be hard pressed to tell the difference between 0.015 and 0.022 (also the default for m_pitch).

If you find your horizontal sensitivity is too high you need to adjust sensitivity, not m_yaw (which you can’t without getting kicked by Punkbuster).
