Mounted Guns (MGs) in need of a change?

If you haven’t noticed, Cool is useful against EVs in Chapel.
i agree, but I also disagree. MGs are effective to a certain extent. They do no where near as much damage as an airstrike or stokers molotov.
The fact that Stoker can do more damage to the EV than a mounted MG says a lot.
um yeah. sorry its kinda hard to tell if you are being sarcastic. because yeah, he does and Im not sure why it is saying a lot other than maybe you would like the MGs to do more DMG against the EV? :# sry I really have no idea.

I think just a small damage nerf would be fine. Even that is almost unnecessary, as it stands they’re a small and fun addition to maps.

It does sadden me that they aren’t putting them in new maps that often, I think I heard somewhere they don’t plan on using them much in future, though I could very well be wrong.

Really? They’re everywhere on Dockyard, in all the major sightlines and push points.

high risk high reward

MGs trump anyone who doesn’t have a high front loaded damage weapon (sniper, DMR, spork, etc) at range. They’re really fine the way they are, nothing too good or too bad. The only thing I would like to see either faster dismount times or a completion circle for getting off them as it’s really annoying to use the things when you have such a weird dead zone when getting off.

honestly I think they could probably reduce the damage and rate of fire a bit and then add something to maybe even partially protect the head.

True, but it kind of defeats the purpose when the defensive weapon emplacement is best used by the attackers or people on the opposite side of those it’s meant to belong to (Chapel ramp turret), sneaking aroud their enemies to get on a turret.

Yeah, something like a face shield.
So long as it can be destroyed, damaging the MG, forcing players to repair it to use it again.

Would add some tactics on “should I repair this turret or not?” while other turrets are obviously meant to be used by the Defenders.

A big face shield could be put on the EV turret, making it basically a mobile turret nest, making the best way to fight the EV gunner is from the sides or just damaging the EV it self.

I dont think they need any change they do lots of damage but are very dangerous case you are usually dead if you stay on it more than 5s sometimes even less your head being super easy to shoot

ahh yes, that is a great idea! That would really add extra benefit to engi’s where there is no use for them.

Plus, as a bonus, it would make the game a little more like Battlefront 2 lol. and thats always good.

I think I am going to make a video about this topic considering the amount of chatter it has produced.

Completely agree with OP, a guy on an MG is a free kill, and there’s several maps where you’re obviously intended to try and control the area with the MG. I’d give it incomplete cover, like a little slit in the middle. You could still headshot him, but you couldn’t do it from an angle and you wouldn’t want to even fire at him if he was shooting at you. The only downside I can think of is that it would be even easier for defenders on some maps, but there’s so much indirect damage in this game that I don’t see it being a problem.

Well i get your point but then if you flank the enemy then you gotta repair that thing first (maybe you get spotted while doing that) then shoot them down but that takes long…)
