Motherboard effecting fps

(Etnies) #1

lo all, i just got a new motherboard the other day, after blowing my old one, its working fine but my fps has been all over the place, i was thinking i might of damaged the ram or graphics card by blowing the mobo but they all seem to be fine, Just wondering if anyone has any ideas on what to do to maybe improve my situation? iv updated the drivers etc, the mobo name is :
ASRock P4v88+
Running: winxp
2gb ram
Geforce6

Edit : Link to old mobo

I was thinking drivers when i first read through, but you have up-to-date ones.

Perhaps it’s a quality thing. From what i can tell from the ASRock website is that they’re fairly new in the buisness and might not have the experience MSI does. Thus they may produce goods that offer less performance.

Just a theory…

Depending on the model I can confirm that. ASRock boards seem to be slower in general than other boards using the same chipset. We’ve sold ASRock Boards and really had lots of defects and trouble with them, so I can’t recommend buying them. Today, the mainboard chipset is very important if you want a fast computer. IMO any recent Intel 9xx series chipset or NVIDIA nForce4 is a good choice for a gamer.

ASrock is Asus’ younger and uglyer sister so it’s logical, it’s not that good. Asus tests new things on ASrock. If it sucks they wont use it on Asus and if it rocks, they’ll be all over it. ASrock isn’t bad but they’re quality is from one end to the another.

Just a FYI,

i had reinstalled windows when i got the mobo since my hd was coruppted, i reinstalled with sp1 (not intentionly) and presumed Auto-updates would upgrade to sp2 which it doesnt, so i upgraded to sp2 today and saw a huge fps gain, not back to normal but some what playable.
