More testers?

(Patriotqube) #1

When Im online there is 1 server packed with people and maybe 1 other server with 1 guy/girl on.

Isnt it about time to get more in ? we should have the servers there packed with people so we can test it

You should get some from legend pack to join
or give us each a free key to give to a friend

its probatly best to get some from legend pack in, il bet there wont be anymore paying for alpha access anyway at this time

just a thought

Quality over quantity, and with the recent amount of new players I never feel alone (as it was the case some weeks ago, when it was hard to find a game going)

(Kendle) #3

Last night, UK prime time, there was exactly what Patriot described, 1 almost full server and 1 or 2 others on their lonesome on a 2nd. I got to play a few rounds, but then my internet crashed, and when I came back the 1 almost full server was completely full and I couldn’t get another game.

I don’t know about getting some Legendary packs in, I bought the Legendary pack and I’m already here, so does that mean not all Legendary’s are in already? Maybe extend it to Elite’s?

Or maybe give each of us a key to invite someone else, or give some keys to Potty / Seanza, they’re well known in the ET scene and could probably get some high level ET players in. I saw TosspoT playing DB last night, give him some keys, he knows everyone!

(Patriotqube) #4

ah yeah i might have gotten the packs wrong  i ment the elite pack

and yes i was also thinking on getting a few active etproplayers in, actually would be easy to invite the NC teams to help

(Apples) #5

I dont know how many key we can ask per founder account, I asked one already, if I can have some more I have people to invite.

(Maca) #6

I think people don’t often feel like getting in an (almost) empty server. If you look at the number on the bottom right of the screen that shows how many have the launcher on and if it is quite big, you could try going in an (almost) empty server to idle, and the more people do this, the more people come in and suddenly you have two full servers. Maybe even more
So it’s not necessarily about there not being enough people in the alpha

(Seiniyta) #7

It would be really cool if people depending how much they paid get extra keys to give away to friends they know would probably play it a lot. Like one or two extra keys for people who paid 120 dollar and then 3/4 for people who paid more. Since it would be nice at evening to not needing to hope getting in a server.

I think you can safely knock 25 off as it never goes beneath this even when no-one about, machines idle in SD offices perhaps?

Then 16 off for the actual full server, 1 or 2 for the randomly testing things on their own, then the remaining 5 queuing for a space.

But if the 5 queuers would just jump on a server together then perhaps it would start to fill.

(Maca) #9

At least this was not the case some weeks ago, it went well under 25 often, so I’m not sure about this. Of course things might’ve changed in the SD offices since then.

(Smooth) #10

We don’t often idle and if we do it’s usually on the Developer Environment (y’all play on the Live Environment) so I doubt more than a handful of those players are us.

It’s most likely people sitting there downloading or waiting on the server browser.

Well hopefully they gets the game downloaded in a hurry then

would be better if we had 4 or 5 servers packed with ppl, would provide lots more input to work with

(.Chris.) #12

How is this possible? It was same situation before we got more players ha…

(Mustang) #13

Somehow I’ve only seen you on once Chris, do you play at odd times or maybe we’ve just missed each other.

(.Chris.) #14

Been inactive for couple weeks due to exams and deadlines, normally on 7 or 8pm for few rounds.

(mitsuhiko) #15

The launcher player count currently includes servers due to a technical limitation, so subtract that in your mind.

(Mustang) #16

And do you have 20-25 servers?

Or do you mean game servers rather than P2P servers?

(Anti) #17

The dedicated servers show up as players, so subtract 10-12 form whatever number you see.

On player numbers you have to bear with us, we need to ramp up in stages and monitor how the numbers change things to ensure performance is still good, we can’t just go and jump 2000 people onto the servers in one go at this stage. What we’re seeing from the recent additions is that we have a full server way more often now, but we don’t hit multiple actives servers at the same time that often still.

What we have is a good start

(SyncFx) #18

I like the idea of getting a free key or two for the 120 pack, 3/4 for the higher ones. I got some competitive peeps that really want to try it out but wont even spend the 30 bucks.

(ImageOmega) #19

Well, SyncFx, you do have to remember this is an alpha for the purpose of creating a better Dirty Bomb experience in the long run. This is not a demo for people to try the game out and see if they’ll like it or not. If they are really only after “trying the game out”, I don’t think the alpha version of the game is what you should be pushing on them. Instead, let them wait for open beta so they can try it out all they want. The game, after all, will be free to play.

If you have a few people that you think would be excellent additions in creating thoughtful posts and being active in the community then I think that is a whole other cup of beans. There is no need for us, as players, to hand out keys to a game that only “officially” hit alpha last week. I understand the frustration with wanting to have more people to play against to actually test the game, but perhaps you should look up the US servers.

Last night, on the US servers, from around 10pm to 1amEST there was almost 12 of us on playing round after round. Now, I am new to the alpha myself and I was out of town all weekend, so this may not be the norm, but I thought that was a good amount of testers. And, for you, assuming you are in Vancouver, that is around 7pm to 11pm your time, correct?

Maybe we should start announcing some game times for the US side of things to help people who are missing the action.
