I’m happy with the game ignoring K/D. It was done for a good reason, but as mentioned, doesn’t need to be the focus of the thread.
Back on topic:
I’ve suggested this on the BethSoft forums.
Total XP
Primary objective XP (location/players defense and “action” objectives)
Damage XP (include incap, kill and assist bonuses)
Side objective XP (shortcuts, CPs, class-specifics, etc.)
Bonus XP from selecting objectives with the wheel before doing them.
While I would personally like to see how many people i’ve put down on the ground myself, this is a great idea for a compromise to make everyone happy (except those who want no stats whatever, for some reason).
You can farm kills all day long, but the XP from kills is dwarfed by the XP from objs and buffs. So you might have the most kills and like 1500xp, but that medic with 7000xp smoked you in general performance. This is why I don’t think people in Brink will camp their KD’s out even if you could see how many kills/deaths you have. Plus the lone wolf mentality doesn’t work at all in this game. I think people who tried already to go lone wolf realized that when you encounter a buffed team or squad, you have no chance.
Which is why I firmly believe even with K/D in the game KD camping will be nearly impossible. If you camp alone waiting for people and a heavy body with armor/3x health buff/weapon buff/metabolism buff totes around the corner with a Hammerdeim…your camping is over. At least thats what happened in my case =D Love my hammerdeim toting beefcake medic.
