More information on scoreboard

Hi thar.

Upfront, im not asking about a kill/death ratio here. More like something similar. How about splitting up the XP in objectives, damage (players, hostage, turrets) and maybe one for buffing too.
To be honest im missing k/d a bit but its not like i cant without, just like to have a little more detail on what players do.

couldnt be arsed to add buff too, you should get the idea from those. something similar to this little examples i made:

http://i.imgur.com/Hx57q.jpg in points

http://i.imgur.com/LD5kR.jpg in percentage

how would you like that?

I would love a detailed XP breakdown. Especially since this games XP calculator is down to every single point of damage you deal, I think thats excellent.

So I agree, a detailed XP breakdown would be great for a post game report.

Xp from combat (kills etc), XP from class related things (revives, placing turrets, giving ammo), XP from objectives etc.

Just one blob of xp at the end for some reason doesn’t feel very rewarding.

I do think a Kill/Death counter is appropriate though, this is an extremely fine tuned precision shooter. And I get giddy whenever I pop someones head with my Drognav.

i like the fact that there is no k/d. in bc2 i always went for the objective, while maintaining a good k/d. now i don’t have to worry about that and dying really is way less frustrating.

K/D encourages camping, camping sucks. I’m eager to see the stats website- if it’s good enough I could see the ingame board staying clean. There is most kills listed, something to strive for.

I personally do not give a tapirs ass but if people overall like it, why not?

Why can’t we have the option to enable/disable the display of stats in-game and in post-game reports? Make everyone happy.

Theres a massive chunk of FPS players that won’t even play this game without stats. And you should be in support of boosting the online community as much as possible. This game has to work harder than established titles.

And if the opposing team wants to cradle their KD and you smoke them and win the match because you and your buddies know how to play Brink. And they can sit there and appreciate their win/loss ratio of .50 for being dumb.

I only beg people, don’t denounce something that would bring joy to tens of thousands just because you think it will turn this into a COD fragfest. It won’t.

Smart players realize you can kill 100 people, but if you don’t repair that crane its GG try again next match…

Please dont derail this into a K/D or no K/D thread ^^

(Jamieson) #8

I think more detailed stats would help. At the moment I am getting around 4000-6000xp a match but I have absolutely no idea why really, is it because of my kills? is it because of the objectives? is it because of my buffs?

Which area do I need to improve so the team benefits? I think a system similar to ETQW would work great. Make it so only you can see your own stats by hovering over the best stats like in ETQW.

(m4rcus) #9

Indeed. That only own stats thing wouldnt be too bad either.

I’m happy with the game ignoring K/D. It was done for a good reason, but as mentioned, doesn’t need to be the focus of the thread.

Back on topic:

I’ve suggested this on the BethSoft forums.

Total XP
Primary objective XP (location/players defense and “action” objectives)
Damage XP (include incap, kill and assist bonuses)
Side objective XP (shortcuts, CPs, class-specifics, etc.)
Bonus XP from selecting objectives with the wheel before doing them.

While I would personally like to see how many people i’ve put down on the ground myself, this is a great idea for a compromise to make everyone happy (except those who want no stats whatever, for some reason).

You can farm kills all day long, but the XP from kills is dwarfed by the XP from objs and buffs. So you might have the most kills and like 1500xp, but that medic with 7000xp smoked you in general performance. This is why I don’t think people in Brink will camp their KD’s out even if you could see how many kills/deaths you have. Plus the lone wolf mentality doesn’t work at all in this game. I think people who tried already to go lone wolf realized that when you encounter a buffed team or squad, you have no chance.

Which is why I firmly believe even with K/D in the game KD camping will be nearly impossible. If you camp alone waiting for people and a heavy body with armor/3x health buff/weapon buff/metabolism buff totes around the corner with a Hammerdeim…your camping is over. At least thats what happened in my case =D Love my hammerdeim toting beefcake medic.

Ye thats what i thought when the idea hit my mind. It shouldnt hurt anyone and it gives a little more oversight to the ppl wanting it.

The HL mod Dystopia has a great multi-tab scoreboard. I’d love to see this kind of breakdown in most games.

(these screenshots are about 3 years old)

Objectives

Score - points/frags/deaths - etc AND GLOBAL RANK (it was down that day)

Awards - I love the names of these.

Weapon Stats
A person’s stats for that round. Compares to top scores.

(matsy) #14

I was very disapointed in the way the end of game / round is layed out.

There is soo much empty space its unreal, if your going to have awards maybe show the top three people per award to fill up abit or let us see the values we got for each award ourselfs!

I also like the idea of having the distribution of where you got the xp, makes it a bit more intresting than just getting 5721 or something…

The annoying thing is, if its anyhting like ETQW the information is there because they will have it going to the stats site!

Another problem I have with it, is the lack of team chat!

(m4rcus) #15

afaik there is a team chat x_X

There are /plenty/ of players in the world who will be turned on to Brink’s philosophy as it currently stands. I’ve been in many clans (comp, non comp) over the years, been a part of many online communities, and taken note of a lot of feedback, and I can /assure/ you there exist enough people who want the game SD have made.

This game was never going to be a CoD or halo beater in terms of raw numbers signing up, but it doesn’t need to be. It’ll be niche, it’ll be specific, but it’ll be successful for those very reasons.

People who want what you want have almost every other FPS game currently active, Brink is for a more select audience that want a more specific experience.

I’m not quite sure why that upsets you so much.

(scub) #17

put ping in the scoreboard is what i also want to see. i don’t ask for much
