meh, thought the interesets about this would be higher =/
More information on scoreboard
Did only read OP. And I like the OPs suggestion. However I would like to have seperat columns for kills and buffs aswell. I dont think this would draw people away from the objective and just start TDMing because its not displayed in number of frags, and death is not displayed either so theres no KD to worry about. Personally I dont care about KD, I like scoring most kills, if I die doing so then so be it. I still work towards the objective, but killing is a great deal of any shooter, objective based or not. Would be nice to see how I do on different things compared to others and see where I can improve, not only with kills, but also buffing and stuff like that.
The issue isn’t no KD, its no…nothing. Just one huge XP number. Not a breakdown or anything.
I could care less about the KD (although i’d love to have a W/L counter, but some people are afraid of that too).
I think some sort of XP breakdown and tracking would be nice. Makes the game seem less empty.
And before anyone retorts, yeah I do want to see and track the XP breakdown. Just because I like it that way.
I agree with a breakdown of exp. I play medic I wouldn’t mind seeing my amount of revives and buffs as compared to damage dealt exp. I am also sooooo happy there is no kd ratio. Honestly if they add one I would think about quiting . People don’t understand the game enough as it is. If they add a kd ratio you will have 4x the amount of stupid kids camping and running around.
This thread has a lot less interest than it should. I hope the moderators don’t skip over the smaller threads, because this right here is a great idea.
I think a XP breakdown is a great way to assess player performance and to better understand what your teammates are doing throught the match. It would also answer the question of “Why are we losing?”. Which, most of the time, leaves me in frustration because I don’t know how to properly direct my efforts to help my team.
Right now theres no way to say who is doing what, and if its contributing to the team or not. Most of the time I feel like i’m doing very well, but when I look at the scoreboard i’m second to last in XP. I usually go back and forth between objectives and fragging, trying to feel out where I could best be used, but my XP is usually pretty low. This XP breakdown could also answer the question “Why is my XP so low, and [Player]'s XP so high?”
Props to Marcus for a great thread.
Thats how I feel. I can certainly live without KD (although a breakdown of combat xp earned would be nice, XP from kills, XP from headshots, XP per weapon earned etc)
And to me there is a huge difference between a medic who sits as spawn and buffs people without ever leaving, and a medic who dodges bullets to toss me a revive. And they deserve to see that.
I can’t see any harm in the XP breakdown theory. It certainly wouldn’t encourage kill camping (which isn’t really possible in Brink anyway)
Just get the et:qw scoreboard back. That one was one of the best. This one is way too minimalistic.
I think the stats are fine as it is for the most part. I know which team won, and the total points for each person does a good job of showing how much each person stayed on their objectives.
However, the following would be cool:
of primary objectives completed (whether you were the primary operative or escorting)
of secondary objectives completed (whether you were the primary operative or escorting)
of command post captures/defends
of buffs given (encourage people to help their teammates)
Signed!!!
The lack of stats for a big XP number and best class, most kills, and overall is cheap and maddening. I know there is a stat site being made, but I want to see stats directly after the match to compare. I could ignore the infusion of bots, a limited amount of maps, the lack of support to stay with friends, but throw stats on top of the heap…I spend my free time posting in this forum instead of playing.
The current scoreboard has the players scattered in 3-pages!
There is not even that many columns to merit that.
And the end game screen has less information than the ETQW screen, scattered in like half a dozen pages/buttons.
I love stats. Bring in kd ratios (this is nothing like cod so dont give me that go back to cod ****), bring in awards for reviving, etc.
+1 for more detailed XP sheet and less “lost space” + global chat between rounds.
Had the same feeling with BFBC2 : not enough occasions / time to chat between rounds. Also, BFBC2 has a lot of lost space in the UI when loading a new map (they prefer a pretty picture instead of the actual NAME of the map, or useful information…).
In-between games need more attention, that is a given, and not only for Brink. Please SD, look back to your previous title, there are tons of good ideas that can and should be re-used. I understand Brink is not really in the “enemy territory” brand, and has to establish its own style, but good design ideas shouldn’t be scrapped away with the rest. Make the detailed stats optional/selectable, if you prefer.
Oh ya more xp for kills plz. Killing people near the objectives / path of the enemies is
equally or even more important than doing SOME of those objectives.
Having an exp breakdown would really help. I wonder how long people would stroke their KDR when they find out people are getting 4x the exp just handing out buffs.
I do like the idea of having awards too. Right now its Best Overall/class/most kills but I’d like some more depth like Smash Bros/Timesplitters/Goldeneye(I think). They might be stretched a bit thin as some people really don’t go for comm posts and only kills.

I think there’s alot of people that would care more about K/D than xp. Atleast when they get to lvl 20. Do like the idea of more info on the scoreboard though! I like the idea of having the amount of xp gained in the different aspects of the game tracked, sounds good. Possibly number of kills/buffs/objectives completed etc
