I’ve thought it would be a good idea to present articles that have been written in monthly game magazines.
PC-Action one of the three greatest german game magazines reports regularly about maps and mods for ET.
Unfortunately there’s no report in the 07/2004 magzine.
But here’s a picture of the article of the 06/2004:
nice little article… should look through some UK mags see if they cover ET at al,l doubt it tho 
tbh its a bit odd reading games mags, they dont half seem to get an awful lot… well “wrong” would be harsh but er lets say its painfully obvious they only have a few people and a whole lot of games to cover. Even worse when they do the hardware stuff, saying things completely at odds to what you’ll find the consensus is on dedicated hardware sites, and even laughable bias that you can easily mess up the spelling and add a 12-year old mentality and come up with “intel r teh bestest amd suck tey r only 2gigahurtz and crash get viruses and melt when tey get hot” oh and suddenly why you shouldnt bother building your own and just go buy a pre-made PC from somewhere like, say, Alienware™…
Yeah I’ve noticed PcGamer and PCzone seem to almost studiously ignore RTCW and ET, and even quake gets talked about like its some thing, rather than a game they actually play all the time. Actually only gaming mag I remember as being good was Edge, and for a period CVG. FWIW, last issue I got of PCGamer (UK) said they were changin it a lot and seem to be going mroe towards quality writing and game-experience etc, which sounds a fair bit better. Also, if you ask them to put stuff on the disks they often will, and this might draw their attention to write about it aswell (if just “on the disks” pages)
If you want even more asinine, MS wont let the mags put OS patches - or even directx unless its part of a demo - onto the disks.

but those magazinges cant pawn over any one game really. Theres always new content to cover, any time they do mention a game for long peroids of time its ussually due to the obsession that one of the editors has with it, and his undying need to mention it every time he/she gets the chance.
I’ve just remembered a post in a german speaking forum of a website covering the theme level-design.
There are pictures of 04/ and 05/2004 of pc-action.
The article in 04/2004 is about “Urban Terror”- and “Realistic War”-Mod (by Clan RW).
The article in 05/2004 is about the 1024^3 mapping contest of fragpoint.de.
Icon: The US get a different PCG from the UK. Whole different team etc…
Edge is a quality magazine, with some class bl0gs/journals (Red Eye innit \o/) and CVG in its day was a fine piece of work too. PC Gamer I haven’t bought since CS went retail or at least, announced plans too as it all died then. PC Zone still comes cos I cant be arsed cancelling my Subscription and one day Charlie Brooker might be back fulltime writing… :]
PC Zone has only ever done a brief 2/3 pager on SD themselves about being a UK Games Development country and it had an Interview with Locki and a full article with pics… after this the only coverage of ET, or any FPS Online game, was and is minimal. An even briefer 2 page ‘Quick start’ to ET guide which included 10 shots of how to actually Install, Open and join a Server but no advice bar ‘Pick a team and class and play’. A NASA monkey could probably have wrote a more efficient article on ET than there writer(s).
I remember one mag doin a crap article about ET also gave it away on the disc attached but nothing since then… but gotta agree with DG really all the UK mags are pretty pish
I completely over looked the whole different part of the world thing. My bad. =)
But a few days before this topic was started I was reading a PCG and it occurred to me that almost every PC game magazine acknowledges clans except PCG. So for the past few days I’ve been trying to get a hold of some of the PCG editors on mIRC and talk to them about clans and if they ever play to mention them or do anything more on ET.
omg u guys are very up on the UK scene with regard to video games journalism! Impressive knowledge!
