hey, i’ve made a map with GTKradiant 1.5.0, and it worked fine. Now i’ve added models, and EVERY model in the map is leaked! :mad:Can someone please tell me what the problem is?
Models Leaked???
Hello, im new here but il try to help you out.
Have you looked at a basic room tutorial? All maps made for ET have to be enclosed in a box to stop leaks.
Here is a tut on a basic room: http://www.wolfensteinx.com/surface/tutorials/et_getting_started.html
Because the room is sealed were the brushs meet and there is notting outside the room there are no leaks. You can do this very easy by just making a caulk box around your map making sure the brushes meet at each side and top/bottom.
Hope this helps but you may need to include more details.
I know that, and everything is perfectly sealed. That ca’t be the problem. Without the models, the map works just fine. I’ve drew a big box around the map, and still the models are leaking!
what models? maybe they are just not made for et?
honestly I have no idea , but that would be the most logical thing… according to your error report.
Just normal ET models, they where made for ET. It’s weird: now if I open a new map, and i put a model in it, it leaks again! I think it’s a problem with the models…
do you use misc_gamemodels or misc_models or both?
misc_gamemodels leak when the origin of the model is placed against a face or in a brush.

Misc_gamemodles , thanks
see if it works
edit: nope, doesn’t work
hi hayekiller,
what is the exact errormessage, can you post it ? caus normally there will show up a debug window displaying which entities leak…try to check their origin values.

error message:
Entity 5, Brush 0: Entity leaked
in this case it’s 1 of the spawn points, but every model/info/misc leaks
This happens if the origin of the model is inside a structural (or detail - can’t remember) brush.
“entity leaked” seems not to be a problem.
So you could try to compile with this error messages and try to test it.
Misc_model leaks when the origin is inside a structural brush, like nUllSkillZ said. This can be ignored.
Misc_gamemodel DISSAPEARS when the origin is inside a structural brush. This you have to fix if you want to have your model.
One thing concerns me, if every model of yours leaks, because it sounds like you have no detail brushes at all or much. If this is also the situation, you better read a couple tutorials about detail vs structural brushes, because otherwise you will have many many problems.
ok, thanks you all. But it didnt work :S I’ve tried everything, but i just can’t get it to work. If I compile the map, and start ET, type /sv_pure 0 and /devmap <mapname> , the game loads the map. everything what i can see is black, and i DO have lights. When i go to the limbo, and I try to spawn as an ally, I see a gun, but when I shoot it’s all over the screen. I cant walk :S:S
You could make a box of thin walls out of caulk around your entire map.
May be there’s a real leak.
May be you haven’t compiled a light stage.
Could you describe which option you choose from the compile menu?
This sounds like the hom effect. You can “see” the void. It’s like if you have caulk wall sealing you from the void and when you look at the caulk wall you get that, unless you have specified a couple cmds in your cfg.
For the first stage of the map: (single) BSP -meta
I’ve drawn a box around the map,(with the cault texture) and it doesn’t work. Could it be something else? a script error maybe?
One box around the whole map?
You have to create walls.
So 6 walls.
For the single options you have to run the compile process three times:
BSP
VIS
Light
Or you could choose one menu option that has BSP VIS and Light.
But be carefull it can take long time.
Maybe choose one option with test.

for me it sounds like you spawn in the void, but dont ask me how that is possible, never tried that and if that is true, you can definetly call yourself having seen the the orkus of wolfenstein
so hows about that spawnpoint entitie, did you remove it and all error messages are gone ? do you get this in all of your maps or is it only in just that one ?
if I remove it(and all of the models) the map is just ok. But if I have just 1 model/entity the compiling doesn’t work. If i have another map, it just works fine, but i can’t move! aaah!
