Models in .surf format?

Curious if anyone knows any information on the .surf format for models…i goggled the S**T out of it and couldn’t come up with much.

Wotsit is great for programmers, but for general information on files, I like filext: .surf information.

Seems it hold some kind of 3d surface (duh) information, coming from 3d scanners. Sounds like a height map to me.

Plus, “surf file” on google. Check the second link. Or this one. I’m not sure if these are all the same format though, looks like such a generic extension name.
