Modding Community?

(Obadiah) #1

I bought this game because it is one of the few with a native linux client (and it was dirt cheap at $6 new at the store). It looks awesome on my GeForce 7800, even with mostly medium settings.

Anyway, I’d like to work on a pretty specific RPG conversion mod if possible (no experience, just a programmer by profession). Is there a modding community for this game, and if so where?

EDIT: Doh! Found it lower down on this website.

Good luck turning QW into WoW or COD, and even as your mod will be, none will be playing it because it’s not ranked/official stuff (ex: Twars).

Dont think there is much room for such a large ambitious mod in ET:QW, maybe some small and cheerful would get some kind of audience still.

Baby steps. First, I’m going to see if I can implement a conversation challenge/response GUI between the player and a bot.

Good luck with it.
Unfortunately Anthony and Chris are right, no matter how awesome your mod will be, it’ll never get much playtime. If that doesn’t bother you, then I’m sure you’ll have fun. I think the ETQW engine is capable of many things.

Good luck, feel free to ask if you need any help.

Good luck Obadiah
If you have a plan to make a mod or a map, just do it. Don’t be someone like me, i’m just NATO (No Action Talk Only). Be someone like the people that make a map or mod for ET:QW. Even though the mod base of this game is small and people said that it’s not ranked or official or something that will scare you. Just don’t give up.

When modding or mapping, carve this in your mind and heart. Your creation will be remembered in this community, bad or good is not the problem. What is important is you have make your imagination come true, you have show people your skill and the talent that you have.

Sometimes, small community but solid, productive and constructive is better than big community.
