The soldier still has the ability to carry two weapons. For example the Anti Tank gun would be on his back if he decides to use this. But if he goes for the explosives as an extra he has just MP40 or a Thompson to help him. (Knife too). Alternatively if there are really no vehicles on the map he can just go for the regular soldier kit. Gun, Pistol, Grenades, Knife.

But me and Sage wanted to make the soldier class also as an assistant to other classes. For example a soldier can deploy a MG42 to open a nest or just put it on a wall as a deployable. (These should be marked out specially? {The system should work like an engineer builds something}) So others can use this as an advantage on an offensive or a defensive.

Or maybe do it like QW has. A soldier can only plant explosives on an objective.

The soldier can have so many different goals. It’s actually an awesome class if it has a purpose.

Edit: Here is a photo of the Anti Tank gun if anyone is interested. This is for the german class.

As you can see it’s quite heavy so it will have some drawbacks for the soldier.

Seams like lots of ideas are pooring in and thats good!

Stealth, I am not fully agreed with you though :rolleyes: don’t really think those things affects the “Gameplay”. If it does, you mean Jaymod, NQ, ETPub, ETPro, changed the gameplay.
Besides, I haven’t ever said we want to make a realism MOD. Also you mentioned, the players should work more together and in that way be more addicted to each other in some way.

If you just jave 5 clips, and are running out of them, then the Field Ops must give him more ammo :slight_smile:

The soldier ideas are very interesting, could be something for this I think.

well that’s because jaymod etpub DID change the gameplay :smiley:
ETpro didn’t? ETpro was just a few logical things implemented like pushing people, and bugfixes and hitboes but nothing really drastic like doublejump etc…

But I don’t mind if you change the gameplay… I was just pointing out that in the original post you said “We want to keep ETmains gameplay” and now you were suggesting ideas that would change the gameplay afterall.

But at the end of the day it’s you mod and you can do what you wish, also then people can give more gameplay ideas (not that they haven’t already :smiley: )
but most of my suggestions or all? were just game improvement ideas, not really effecting gameplay.

That’s the Swiss name, it was later put into German service as the PzB41. The full Swiss name is Solothurn S18-100. The Upgraded version (S18-1000) became the PzB41.
This is the Solothurn S18-1000

The gun you linked to is a Finnish Lahti rifle (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lahti_L-39).

my mistake, thanks, the pic was to show size, , I couldn’t find a Solothurn with someone beside it, they’re approx same length and style. The PzB41 I’m familiar with was this:

I would suggest not to add that feature. From my experience after running COD4 servers that thing can be easily abused to annoy all.

OR

You can take one step forward from COD4 and BC2, and add fire team voice chat only. That will encourage team play in your mod and since it’s fire team chat only they cannot annoy other players in team.

Most of the servers in COD4 disable voice chat. More or less due to increase in CPU processing, I guess players will lag and they will blame your mod for it. From my experience around 20-40% players in W:ET uses 10 yr old PC’s. Players have vent and teamspeak for voice chat or you can add optional voice chat based on fire team.

Also, I know you have made your mind and all, but LUA can help to tweak many things as admin wants.

You can also add auto balance, so if teams are stacked with skilled players vs un skilled players, it auto balances them based on K/D ratio. I really like the auto balance of COD4.

But again thats just my personal opine.

the autobalance would have to be more complicated than it looks… i wouldn’t like to be teamswapped, just because i play with mortar and have big k/d ratio.

voip is a good idea, but it has to be fully configurable (like only for team/ft/global etc).

in BC2 the voip is squad chat onyl afaik
also in most games it can be adjusted to team only or global.

Also an idea for you mod:
change the way private slots work, in most new games they have other methods, for instance a list is made with all users that have private slot access, when such a person joins and the server is full the lowest scoring player is kicked to free up a slot…

ofc you can think of you own method

i’d say permanently goodbye to the server who kick me for lowest score, just because someone is vip.

oh and yeah… talking about vip - make a new game mode - escort the VIP. the person who would take an object (let’s say ‘kevlar’ or suitcase) becomes a vip, but at the same time, he can’t use his weapons. the point is to let u team take care of u to the estraction point. it could be done as a map for all mods as well, just place a weapclip around the player - that thing would follow him everywhere (there was one map with following u objective - made by isbowhten as far i remember). vip wouldn’t be able to shot outside, but it would be possible to shoot him down. could be nice!

That’s actually a pretty cool idea Indy. Except it should be a class like medic so it isn’t all that easy to kill him (and stop rambo medics :P) but that should be a WHOLE new mod he just wants to add small stuff :D.

Didn’t UJE map have this? Well what objectives should he carry then without being able to shoot? If I carry a gold create and can’t shoot then it would be kinda annoying, don’t you think? Or I am missing something.

Edit: I think you can disable weapons when you carry something or it was in NQ.

Weapon clip works both ways. If he can’t shoot out, you can’t shoot in. The only way I can see this working is if the weapon clip is attached to the barrel of the VIP’s gun. But then again, if your VIP has the Panzerfault, he just might blow himself up if he tries to shoot.

for sure there is a way to make it working one-way only. perhaps patch instead of brush? and blowing urself up is… well, nothing can be perfect. i guess this kind of map would be played more between clans.

pegazus - the vip would be the person who take obj first. yeah, that person wouldn’t be able to shoot but the point is to your team lead you to the victory. annoying or not, that’s the idea. u re not a treat to the enemy, but your entire team should be near you.
