you are the most affected person by ‘my content’ and… why don’t u just enjoy that piece of art, like hundred of other people who simply DO NOT CARE where does it come from, as long as they don’t have to pay for it, and it’s playable - ten or twenty times more playable (THIS is what matters!) than ur original content? where did u fail pegazus with ur map? why people are not playing it?


i stopped decompiling long time ago. there are many other methods to port things. :slight_smile:

In all honnesty, I do not know where I stand in this forum. But I do know that there is a lot of stupid people and smart people. Every community has it, if you cannot handle the community than what ever most communitys will be like this. But if this is your wish I wish you the best of luck.

No I don’t think you do that for money. But what I do know is you are breaking the law. Ever heard of it? Yeah it exists and it has a place for people like you.

And telling me that I and Sage failed with our map is quite untrue. We did not fail we achieved what we wanted. We never expected to get so many plays on it at all. But at least we can be proud of our OWN work. We know that our map is unique. It does not exist in CoD, SOF or CS and whatever other games you have ripped off. While “your” map exists everywhere.

If you think that stealing is so nice then let’s imagine this: why don’t i decompile Streets Of Italy and recompile changing a couple of textures then naming it: Streets Of Romania. What would you say about that? Not very nice, you would probably be angry. This is exactly what you are doing.

You might now think that oh Streets Of Italy has so many games played on. I checked it, out of 8 servers that host it 2 of them are down. 4 of them are empty and 3 of them have players. Quite a big success i might say. And game count does not matter anyways.

Perhaps you should try to make your first brush, i got a tutorial if you want. :slight_smile:

Edit: So be happy with the knowledge that your work actually is popular. It’s the original creators that are successful not you. Anybody can steal, decompile, rip. It takes skill to actually do something. Besides the feeling you get that your OWN work has payed off is good. A feeling YOU have never experienced.

Edit 2: So if you call me a fail through your eyes then perhaps it’s time to take a look in to the mirror?

Expect it to be ready in few days. Haha, not a good feeling right?

you take these statistics in a wrong way.

at the moment i write this, 16:08 CEST there are 11 servers with the map according to the splatterladder.

  • 2 of them are down
  • 5 of them are empty
  • 3 of them has players (23, 5, 3)

16:08 - most people are at work. u seem to be quite bored, so i’ve got a job for u - make a statistics for 3 days, how many players are online on et servers, check the quantity ever 1 hour. find out wich are the busiest hours in et scene. definetly not when people are at school/work, during the weekdays.

anyway, what does it mean? it means that right now the map is in rotation at at least 9 servers (2 are down - perhaps some problems, so safer not to count them). make the stats for 3 days of unique servers playing italy - then u will have much much bigger number. i’m pretty much sure that a huge number of servers are deleting maps that they do not have in rotation anymore, so let’s use google to find out how many servers (that can be found in google only!) is hosting italyfp2.pk3

187 hits. let’s say that only 80% are correct - that is nearly 150 servers hosting ‘my’ map. and that’s just google. there are much much more servers that has italy in campaign. they have it in campaign because players like the map - if it would be diffrent, they would simply remove it. see, that’s the success. i spent my own time by remaking the map, and i’m proud that it’s good. after all, it’s a tribute to original author. nobody got killed, nobody got hurt, nobody lost money or family due to my action. nearly everyone is happy, as et community has one more good map to play on. it’s like with smoking marijuana - the plant is illegal nearly everywhere in the world and… people keep smoking it, while they know it’s against the law. so…?

btw - new modern warfare 2 mappack has 7 maps - 3 of them are direct copy from modern warfare 1. 1:1 scale. nothing has been changed and… u have to pay for it! both for pc and consoles. that’s a real ‘ripoff’.


u can make streets of romania. i wouldn’t be angry… but first of all, there is no need to decompile it! i released source long time ago. the map is not using even one single file from css, but that has been discussed before. the map is based only and only at soldier of fortune 2 custom map.

just got an idea for new mod - let people create custom surfaceparm, so we can use diffrent sounds on diffrent surfaces. what do u think about it, margus?

i don’t know if that could be achieved this way… but for example i want to have sound of leaves on wind. if there is a surfaceparm for that, i would make a brush over foliage model, make it nonsolid by shader (something like trigger) and hopefully the engine would play both ground steps and the new surfaceparm (in this case - walking thru grass sound). usefull on jungle maps, where u could hear player moving, but it had to affect also crouched player.

ETFrag MOD

ETFrag is a mod based on ETMain.
The reason: We want to make a mod of our own, the things we can’t do should not be done.
We choose to make our mod from etmain because we like it and would only try to improve some minor things, plus add some features.
Of course we are open for suggestions and would like to hear others ideas and opinions.

The main goal of this MOD is: Fragging, 100% of fragging (sort of etpro but meant as fun, not competition).

Few plans for the MOD:

Improved HUD - First priority is to make a clear view without disturbing objects.
New hitboxes - Not sure about this, but should be a lot harder to hit the enemy. We want it be little bit harder to hit the enemy.
Realistic ammo - You have certain ammount of Ammo-clips, instead of shots. So one clip is for instance 30, and you have 4 clips, you will loose the ammo in the current clip when you reload.
Modes of death - Not sure about this. But we want to make different animations depending on which class you are or how you get killed.
Foot-kick - RTCW foot-kick, seen in NQ. Not sure how it would behave, but it is an feature I miss from RTCW.
2D-Art - Introducing new 2D-arts, not replacing all, but make some new and maybe adjust some of the current.
The blood is black - We change it to red
Killstreak - Instead of Killing spree, we make Killstreak (omg CoD… oO). Don’t really know how it works, maybe Indy can explain to us?
Extended Referee - A system meant for admins, NOT ONLY THE CURRENT REFEREE CMDS. Planing to use the shrubbot but only keep the most important admin related commands. Perhaps add or modyfi current ones.
Doublekills +++ - The regular kill awards seen in most the MODS, but this one will be alot different. It is the same princip, but will not play the common sounds and just display “Doublekill!”.
Unlockable weapons - No new weapons is added atm, but some weapons have been added to the classes. Medics can now unlock Sten and Thompson (oposit MP40) and etc.
XP Save - Yes here we go. Not so different. Either you choose to have it or maybe just for a certain ammount. If not able on the server you wont be able to unlock the weapons.
New skill levels - Not sure yet, Thinking of adding new levels. Not sure how they will appear or how many.
XP Marker - The ammount of XP you earned by killing or building etc will be showned on the screen.
Omni-Bots - We really don’t want to implent this. There are plenty of MODs with Omni-Bot support. We really don’t like it so thats my we wont add it :slight_smile:
CG_GUN Y,X,Z - As client you will be able to change the Gun posisitions. Though not to much cuz it can cause some sort of wallhack.
Thirdperson view - As spector you should be able to choose to see the player in thirperson view.

According to IndyJones I dissmissed all of your ideas, but here’s two I replied to and also took in consideration:

New gametypes - TDM (Team Death Match) and FFA (Free For All). Not sure how they will behave ingame but we work something out.
VoIP - Voice Over IP. Personally I thik it is a good idea, and I guess it would be the mumble type since it is opensource and would be easiest to build in.

If I forget to add an idea I replied to, just let me know.

Something I try to understand is, what the ******************** has the age got to do with this? Indy…?

I can reveal, the one who Code this MOD is actually three years old oO, Yeah… I know pretty gifted child, ey?
And Indy, I am not 18 years old. Pff, I am 36 years and I got 13 years of modding experience. Heard of my first MOD project? It is called Dickmod.
Was made by me and my friend Dick Van Pattern (there for the name).

LUA may be a popluar thing, but then they can keep play the MODs supporting it. Yes omg I said NO to an suggestion.
We want to do a mod for those who like to Frag. Not for admins which want to change and script our MOD, we simply want them to play the mod as it is.
Mayeb we sucseed, maybe we fail. This isn’t a 100% succsess project… orly?

and you are contradicting yourself. You say you don’t want to make it competitive like ETpro, but you do want more realism -> Realism isn’t fun.

Well thinking about it a bit realism can be fun, but in order to make it fun you’d have to change lots of things so making it slightly more realistic is ± impossible

Also in the initial post you said you didn’t want to mess with the gameplay, well you ideas will mess with the gameplay :smiley:

Perhaps make the soldier class a bit more useful? Me and Sage had a few ideas for the soldier class. I’l mention one of them.

Tank Destruction skill - Gain experience by disabling heavy armory. The more advanced the player gets at this skill - the more variety of techniques he learns to use. Other players can still damage armory but not as effectively as this class.

It can start off easy for the player, using light explosives (Grenades, Panzerfaust/Bazooka {Yes, actually make the panzerfaust useful: not for player killing). Then the player “unlocks” Anti Tank rifle. (I can easily model this for you, texturing might be an issue). The gun can fire 10 rounds per minute so it’s quite slow and ineffective against players. One magazine has 5 rounds.

After that he gains access to advanced explosives. Explosives that can easily damage the tank but are limited. I won’t name the ones we had in mind :slight_smile:

Stealth, the only “realistic” thing I have mentioned is the Ammo clips. And that just makes you save bullets, or at least you will have to save bullets.

And which ideas will change the gameplay? I would like to hear from you. :slight_smile:

And with thaks it should be like you have to go in tank and hold “W” (you can shoot with MG too) so not just running next to tank and it moves by itself. :slight_smile:

These things effect gameplay.

And the weapon clip idea may seem like a small change, but it will probably change more then you think.
some things immediately jump to mind, loosing ammo faster and fdops are pretty known not to do their job properly.
when you pick up an enemy weapon it only has X amount of bullets left, then you pick up another one also with X amount of bullets left.
so let’s say the first has 5 bullets and the second clip has 5 bullets, you will die at the next enemy you encounter :smiley:
Also if it works like the mg42, that you first have to empty your clip before you can reload then lots of gun fights will exist out of a few shots, then you need to reload.
Or again wasting ammo faster.

Maybe you could counter it by letting people exchange clips, but here again you have problems because FG42 clip can’t fit in an mp40 and viceversa etc…
Or maybe that clips you pick up are automatically added together until you change clip.
Or maybe that you could rest and restock your clips, but this would slow down the fast paced gameplay.

But as you can see such a ‘small’ change causes many implications.

Hitboxes:
This is a common thing I hear people getting mad about on teamspeak:
“I CAN’T HIT HIM, NO HIT *****%$^&*^#@&”

Nobody realizes that they themselves are harder to hit, they just think it stupid etc…

Unlockable weapons:
weapons are chosen after a lot of thought imo and some weapons are even limited by overheating or charge time, so that they are not overpowered.
by unlocking weapons you are messing with the balance.
fdops with sten :s
Sten has 0 spread, it’s a pretty deadly weapon if you know what your doing and has a larger clip. Most people say it sucsk because it overheats, but they don’t really know how to use it.

Also then cvops can pick up other weapons which makes them harder to recognize, I find this brilliant since i love cvops hehe, but in stock ET it’s a pretty important thing that experienced players look for, if a medic is walking around with a weapon thats not a thompson shoot him!

Killstreak:
Don’t know what you have in mind, but if it’s anything like cod then it’ll be unbalancing most likely.

Most factors in game are well thought out and have a counter, like for killstreaks, you have deathstreaks and the spawns work differently.

Also @ Pegazus’ idea, it’s a fine idea, but then the soldier is kond of useless on maps without a vehicle and the soldier was in my impression not designed for just taking out the tank, the fdops is far better equiped for that.
The idea of the soldier is to take out as many enemies as possible, but this idea is obviously blurred out by the rambo panzers that take out 1 person and themselves.

But if you could imagine if a panzer a medic and a fdops worked together properly it would be a force to be recond with.

Anyway, while typing this I realize that certain things in the gameplay shouldbe changed, but not things like adding doublejump, or throwing knives, or poison etc…
Things that will makes classes work together more, make then more dependent upon their teammates.

I’ve been playing BFBC2 alot lately and in that game if you rush alone you are useless (if the other team is doing any kind of defence)
You need AT LEAST 1 other person covering you, and if you can get your whole squad to work together and you have some experienced players then you are ± unstoppable.

I can’t believe I didn’t think of this before. Make the tank repairable when it is damaged, not just destroyed. And if people say that will just make it easier for the team defending the tank, you can make it so even bullets do super small damage to the tank; adding to your more usefull-ness to the soldier idea…
