MML Church ET (+ source) released now!

(poorme) #21

What a good design. Everything looks great !!

No missing textures, perfect command map, nice objectives, …, a professional job.

I’ve notice 2 things :

I’m a good organist : http://mapage.noos.fr/poorme/et/2003-08-15-141326-mml_church_et_v1.jpg !!!

The “Breakable” icon is missing here and i think it’s important. I spent few minutes to understand how to use the ladder. http://mapage.noos.fr/poorme/et/2003-08-15-140843-mml_church_et_v1.jpg
I think that the “Breakable” icon are missing for all grids.

Edit : the grids have the Breakable icon, we have to crouch to see them.

Now, i’m going to find the ghost :stuck_out_tongue:

Reupload the file to filefront, as it wasn’t properly uploaded there (zip is 4.xxmb instead of 10mb)

(sock) #23

Oh go on, can I quote you on this!

Sock
:moo:

(poorme) #24

Any clues !!!

I can’t find them :banghead: :banghead: :banghead:

(G0-Gerbil) #25

Ah I see your point. Ammo / health cabinets seem to get chucked in as a matter of course. Personally I dislike them (although of course use them myself when playing) because it means you don’t have to rely on medics or field ops, or more annoyingly still, you see people waiting for a new ammo case when in fact it’d be quicker to either die and replenish, or hunt down a friendly field op etc.

Church in RTCW did have a final, but to be honest I never pushed it that hard because as has been covered before maps that go through too many revisions don’t tend to get picked up - I’d already been burnt cos alpha1 and beta1 should not have been public, they got leaked which meant by the time I got to B3 there were 4 versions floating around
Oh I see you just posted in rtcwfiles about the final :stuck_out_tongue:

Dunno why they have the files marked at 4 megs - what’s with these places getting the wrong size?

Actually filesize is a bit of an issue to me - 10 megs is quite high, but I can’t help chucking in audio files - it makes such a difference (which reminds me, although undocumented, the 30 seconds warning key / values in worldspawn still work from RTCW \o/).

And sock, of course you can quote me

AAARRRGH Bloody rtcwfiles! They’ve uploaded corrupted versions of my files FFS!

How hard is it to upload a file properly???

So as of NOW the ONLY correct mirrors I’m aware of are:

http://www.theburrow.co.uk/et/mml_church_et_v1.htm
http://www.enemyterritory.org/downloads/mml_church_et_v1.zip

While for the RTCW version get it here:

http://theburrow.rtcwfiles.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=62

This has pissed me off as I’m sure you can guess
What should have been a ‘one release is final with no hassle’ has turned into a ‘annoy people so they don’t bother downloading it at all’ situation.
Feck feck feck.

And I’m HOSTED with RTCWFILES fer gods sake!

‘Realism’ sacrificed to make moving around much simpler

(Drakir) #28

Great map! Looks really pretty, nice touch with the light shining from the windows.

(poorme) #29

A clue for the ghosts

(Cosmos) #30

Minor Bug:

The rope swing object gets stuck in mid-air.

(G0-Gerbil) #31

Heh that’s weird - never seen that before
Was there a corpse under it?
Hummer was describing something that sounds similar with his Indiana Jones boulder type thingy

(Cosmos) #32

Doesn’t look like there is a corpse, there are no body parts there!

(G0-Gerbil) #33

Ah well, it’s probably just one of the ghosts messing around then

(Cosmos) #35

Any excuse to cover up the bug. :eek3:
Great map, love it. My two best maps are: MML Church and Rhine Bridge 2 so far.

(G0-Gerbil) #36

BTW people have been complaining this map is too small (which kind of defeats the point of what I was trying to achieve).

If any of you guys agree, why not take the source (download it from my site) and chuck some terrain / town around it, fiddle with spawn points etc, to make it into a much larger map?

After all, that back hatch is just begging to be a dynamitable objective and a back-route into the church…

(SirLiveAlot) #37

I thought that map was a good size once I played it. I swore I posted this before(I hope the post I though I placed is now in some unrelated forum. uhh too many I’s there but anyways… I did a full review of it at http://www.deathillustrated.com/sirlivealot/et/ . The church map is now one of my favorite maps.

(Cosmos) #38

I think the map is a good size, maybe not big enough for 50 players but its not small, there are 4 different height levels so this compensates for the distance on the map. The only thing which has bugged me is the axis spawn point because you can get many spawn killers just camping outside the church. But this map is great anyway.

I dont see this as a playable map :bored:

it is another one of those maps i would like to pay for tour around it. :bored:

Although the map is very well mapped, scripted and presented, i dont see myself running around init and shootin the crap out of some dude in Eastern Europe.

In a map - when i play it for the first time - i have a look around in spec mode - and see all the different areas and think “oh cool , i can snipe from tha place, oh cool - nice hiding spot, hey i can use this way to get to the objective safely”

But in this i just keep on telling myself “oh wow, thats where i can sing hyms”

I aint having a go at you, i am just expressing my opinion of a map with good gameplay

I enjoy roaming around in your map, but dont see me playing online init.

Although i have yet to try out the MML church online experience, i can not see right now that i will enjoy it, as much as i have while playing Rhine and Carnage

(*[SfS]*OpTeRoN) #40

I sort of agree with Deathmaster.

Even though I do enjoy the map’s appearence, the gameplay is horrid.
When you first see this map, it’s like oh wow, this looks like a nice map, and at first it looks huge. But when you actually play, get the relic, and get back to the truck, map seems much smaller.

I also think it’s a bit too easy for the Axis to win.
