MLB's Secret Room in Temple beta2 Revealed !!!

If you did not know, beta2_mlb_temple has a secret room for spawn time increases/decreases, binoc/sniper zoom hinderances and benefits, multiple spread rocket launchings used with cameras and portals and a nice buggy exit teleport too !!!

Well, the room outweighs the buggy exit…but if you get the exit right, you will end up on top of the “light grid” brush that sits half way up to the sky. You will be able to shoot down on people and run away like a scalywag or something as such. On to the business end of this then…

Next to the first allied spawn is a tent with a bulletin board like so:

Go up to the board and place your crosshairs onto the spots and activate them as I say to. There will be no indication that they can be activated…so stand very close.
Here is the board and the spots…the steps are below the pic.

All steps one after another @ moderate speed should do.

  1. Activate box 1 once
  2. Activate box 2 twice
  3. Activate box 3 three times (thrice)
  4. This will make an announcement of “…” on the left side of the screen.
  5. Now take one small step back and wait about 10-15 seconds
  6. TELEPORTED TO THE SECRET ROOM !!!
  7. WATCH OUT !!! DO NOT WALK Straight ahead once in the room, if you do you will be teleported out into water and stuck there. I guess it’s their way of dealing with the “lucky people who got in”. So just avoid the center of the room for now.

Once you do want to exit the room, walk into the center of the room from the opposite side of your entrance and you will be placed near axis’ first spawn, but on top of a light grid brush. So run around and shoot people from up high.

Side note:
(–Ignore the green box in the second pic, if you activate the #4 box and wait, you will be teleported to an inescapable room with nothing in it except a viewhole to the good secret room. It is what they made for the public, as they even named it “tele_pub” ) Someone wanted to be a real jerk about making that thing and an even bigger jerk about keeping it a secret…O WELL… :chef:

could a bug with that “feature” explain why I was “instant spawning” one game as axis on that level?

spawn times range from 20 to 2 seconds for allies and the axis from 25 to 5. so yeah, that room could be the reason.

Within 5 seconds. Walk up to the board and click the spaces as specified and you’ll get it sooner or later. :nod:

how do you activate the second and third again do u move ur crossair away then back again

place your crosshair on #1 , while you are close to the board, and press “F”
then move the crosshair to the #2 block and press “F” 2 times
same for #3, do it all within 5 seconds and you will get it sooner or later, if you mess up during the process, you must move away from the board for 15 seconds. Then you can re-do the steps.
Run a server on your own comp, NOT DEDICATED, and practice it.

Lowlife and I were wondering how long it would take someone to find the trick :slight_smile:
Just one question: did you do the trick decompiling the map, or just with the script and fiddling around? (decompiling is too easy… if you did find it only playing the map, congrats). You can also take a close look at ALL beta 2 versions of MLB maps, since they all have such a room…
They were meant for Lowlife and I, to balance the maps which weren’t even and try to see the bottlenecks on the maps… for the finals. :slight_smile:

Two more comments:

  1. Isn’t this a perfect example of the kind of feature in games that is called Easter Egg?
  2. I think it is in the true spirit of Wolfenstein, with its hidden treaures and stuff.

hehe yeah it’s a kind of easter egg :slight_smile: I’m still willing to know how EB came across it though :smiley:

Anyhow, no worries, that was only in the beta release. The final does not have this easter egg, in order to avoid spoiling the game play for everyone :beer:

I have 2 be honest, one day I was in patched public server and as I started spectating some noob that was afk for about 20 minutes prior, he had found himself in the room but on the opposite side of the easter egg’s wall. Who knows how he got there, he didn’t even know.
I was curious, as I am all the time. I looked at scripting but that only gave me half the answer because I didn’t know where to find the triggers. Needless to say that tells the rest of the story.
Also, @Marko: Since this was a beta, I felt it was OK to share the “secret” :confused: , had it been a final map I would have kept it to myself.

think it is with all the mlb maps.

if i am correct the map maker is working for a clan and the clan uses this as there secret room. so nothing rong with the map it only shows a bit of the true power of map making.
i make maps to so i no :cool:
