Mission types

(1)Looking at the gameplay videos it seems to me that the missions always involve The Resistance attacking and trying to complete objectives while The Security is on the defense and trying to stop them from completing the objectives. (Kind of like Terrorists and Counter-Terrorists in CS) Is that really the case or will The Security too will get to go on the offensive in missions?

(2)Also, it was said in a interview that the campaign for The Security and The Resistance would be entirely different and not simply the same mission from another point of view. If that is true then how would The Security players’ campaign progress if they join in on a Resistance player’s campaign?

Theres only been 2 actual gameplay videos, in one of them, the Security forces were on offense, in the other, it was the Resistance. Your statement is completely off base =]

I’m guessing if you join someone’s game its their storyline that unfolds, not so much your own.

No, in the Container City demo the Security forces had an escort mission not an offensive one, I assumed therefore that the Resistance must have had the objective to destroy the bot.

(DarkangelUK) #4

They were escorting a metal cutter to cut into a container and take/secure its contents were they not?

(tokamak) #5

That is an objective in the same way the objective can be ‘defuse the bomb’ and ‘destroy the bridge’ for defenders.

If you’re playing the campaign mode you won’t be able to advance if you haven’t won the match.

I am not sure I understand, does this mean they will to win matches from their own campaign and as opponents in the Resistance players’ campaign to be able to advance?

(LyndonL) #7

The way it was explained by Rahdo I think is:

Whomever wins the match stays on the server (if you’re pc) and a new team who is also up to the next level joins them for the next match.
Whomever loses moves off to another server and reattempts that same level.

It’s a winner stays on scenario.

I think I personally just plunge in the free mode. Nothing beats playing a good multiplayer game for the first time. Bots would ruin it.

(ultraddtd) #9

They would play the “bad guys” to the Security players campaign. I’m assuming, since both sides have their own separate stories, that who ever is the opposer in the campaign would be tasked with simply stopping the “good guys” (i.e. in Security Forces campaigns the Resistance simply must stop the SF and vice-versa for the Resistance in their campaigns.)

(ultraddtd) #10

take for instance you’re the Resistance playing on a Security Forces server. As the Resistance you defeat the security forces. That team that you beat will be moved to another server and retry the mission. You’ll be matched with another SF team and play the next mission in the SF campaign.

(LyndonL) #11

You make a very good point! If there are some exclusive missions for each side, how can you play them as multiplayer since it wouldn’t be part of the other team’s campaign!

(DarkangelUK) #12

No you’re still on your own campaign, you just happen to be matched with another SF team that have reached that point in the campaign from their POV. It’s still 1 story, just 2 POV’s.

(tokamak) #13

Why wouldn’t that be?

(Seyu) #14

So we’ll be playing the same campaign two times just with different cut-scenes?

(LyndonL) #15

Because it’s not part of their campaign.

They said something along the lines of “playing from each side you will see some missions that are specific to your faction only” which I take as a whole new set of objectives or even map purely for Security for example. By a magical process of deduction then, we can see that being as their specific to Security only, the map/mission wouldn’t be playable when you’re Resistance… THEREFORE who are you playing? Bots only?

(tokamak) #16

A mission for the security/resistance only can still be prevented by the enemy.

(DarkangelUK) #17

You can play it 2 times, from resistance or from security POV. The maps and objectives don’t change… if Resistance have an objective to blow up a door, then Security’s objective is to defend the door and disarm planted explosives. But yeah there will be different cutscenes depending on what team you’re on, but the overall story stays the same.

(Seyu) #18

So how would the story advance for the enemy, that’s what I was asking. I think what DarkangelUK said is right.

(LyndonL) #19

You’re not understanding what I’m saying AT ALL… I’m certain I read that… OK I’ll put it into plain English so that you can understand it:

SECURITY missions:
A B D E F G I J K

RESISTANCE missions:
A B C E F H I J K

Therefore, if you’re playing it as Security, who do you play against when you play mission D if mission D is not in the Resistance campaign.

(DarkangelUK) #20

You play a Resistance team who are on mission D at that time. There’s no Resistance mission D and Security mission D… there’s just mission D.
