Mission re-rolls?

(titaniumCrouton) #1

Hey guys, just an idea I thought up and i wanted to get the community and maybe even some dev freedback on it. So everyone has a few missions they just utterly dread doing and pretty much always skip them (competitive missions anyone?) and then have to wait three full hours before RNG decides on another mission. While this is hardly game breaking and is more of annoyance, I thought why not give a little more control over to the players?

So, the idea is lets say you get a mission you hate (competitive game mission) and skip it. Well right above the count down to the next auto-refill there will be some text “Would you like to re-roll this mission?” with a button and some arbitrary to be decided number, in this example 3/3. You click yes, you confirm the action and boom. New mission right then and there and your counter goes down to 2/3. The idea is that you get a set number (3 in this case) per week and each week they fully refill.

I figured this would be a good way to give people at least some control over the missions they want and not punish people for getting something they despise doing. But It’s also limited enough so you can’t abuse it (Like spamming to get nothing but 1000c missions every time) that way it can only be used for it’s niche and intended purpose.

Anyway, what do you guys think? I just thought it be a nice little feature to add that the community as a whole might enjoy and I think I figured it out in a way that isn’t really abusable.

It’d be nice. I don’t mind not having it, but any extras like this are always welcome.

(titaniumCrouton) #3

Yeah i’m the same, although I’d much rather have it. I just can’t help it every time I get one of those comp missions or really large support exp missions that I’d just love to replace them, which is what inspird the idea. Hopefully it’s a feature the devs would consider and input one of these days. Obviously wouldn’t be a top priority thing xp.

(SaulWolfden) #4

It would be a nice little feature to have, I pretty much always cancel play x competitive matches due to not being fond of that either.

(XavienX) #5

We should have like 1 or 2 rerolls on only one mission every mission reset.

(RuleofBooKz) #6

nah there should be a penalty for declining a mission.

ITs just like if ur a hired ninja assassin and u say no to a mission. You can do it but it means that - as a sign of displeasure from your ninja master highlords - u will be overlooked for mission for a little while. And maybe assassinated yourself for being a troublemaker. But hey in this game there is just the wait sans death so thats nice

Not entirely sure if joking or serious but either way I personally don’t agree. Having to wait three hours for a new mission is generally punishment enough in terms of declining a mission. Just my opinion.

(RuleofBooKz) #8

oh i meant the penalty being the long wait to get a new mission. Not a penalty like loss of XP or credits or a large Black hovering “X” over your head in game that says in bold letter "loser couldnt hack it and declined a mission shum them shun them " or even having a evil ninja death squad sent after you. I mean evil ninja death squads do happen but perhaps not the best fit for this game sadly

i meant just the few hours wait for a new mission is the “punishment” for a decline.

what would be funny tho is if u declined too many missions u had to play in the nude without weapons with a septa running always next to your shouting “shame, shame, shame” over and over in VOIP and ringing a large bell. that would be cool

You’ve honestly lost me at this point ^_^’

“I need to do missions all the time and when I don’t want some, I can’t just click them away because I will die” Some people sound like Smeagol about the Ring when they speak about missions.

(titaniumCrouton) #11

O_o well some are rather annoying to complete and might not mesh with your particular merc preference and possible playstyle, so I think it’s pretty justified to want to skip some missions. As for why so many of us do missions some what religiously, that would be because they give a large amount of Credit (or Cash, whatever it’s called) which greatly helps the grind.

So I don’t think it’s much of a surprise that people want to do a lot of missions. That said, my idea won’t really increase the amount of missions peopel will be able to do so it won’t break the market or anything. It just allows people to skip that one mission you hate every once and awhile and just in general makes people lives easier.

Personally I think it would be a nice feature that everyone could appreciate. Or you could also choose to ignore it completely if you’d like. It’s not like not using it would punish you o_o.

(Jostabeere) #12

I that really so hards to wait 3 hours for a new mission? I mean come on. Normally those things are resetted only once a day in games.

(titaniumCrouton) #13

Well, some people don’t have that much time to play and what if you get, say, the competitive one (something that is rather well hated by most of the community) two or three times in a row? that is 3-6-9 hours of being down a mission? This solves both problems for everyone involved and…there isn’t a downside.

If there is a downside, please. Present an argument.

(Jostabeere) #14

By your logic, if we take the time you can spend on a game, a player who hasn’t time for a single game should be getting credits for free everytime he has no time for a game?
And please don’t say: “It’s complete different”. It technically isn’t.

(RuleofBooKz) #15

Yay free credits for everyone for nothing!! great idea! lets get the mods in on this and get this idea rushed thru to production. Cant wait to see it next patch.

Well done on a great thread everyone glad we could get it sorted ;))

I think you have a fundemental misunderstanding of my logic.

Well it’s not free credits. O_o it’s just getting a mission you want to do instead of a mission you don’t want to do. But I am glad to see the idea is catching some attention and getting a discussion starting  Even more glad to see it’s being some what postively recieved.

(Jostabeere) #17

Nah. Your argument for mission rerolls is: People who don’t have much or enough time to wait for missions would have a reroll to get a second chance on easier credits to maximize credits-income in their time. Right? The exaggregation of this is: People with not enough time to play will get free credits to maximize their credits in the very short playtime.
P.S. I believe Rules comment was sarcasm.

Looks like IaudatoryLunch is here to collect free dislikes. You really know how to be a douche on the forums.

Good idea, not everyone’s online the entire day to wait for new missions. Don’t see why anyone would be against it, since it would only benefit you no matter what kind of player you are. Unless you are just here on the forums to disagree with everything like IaudatoryLunch.

(Jostabeere) #19

I’m not a douche, I just have a critical way of sight on many things. And I’m aware of and not afraid if people will dislike it.
Missions should be a thing you work on imo. It’s like cheating in SP games. You don’t wanna play level 1? Cheat yourself into next level. Don’t like using a pistol for the next minutes? Cheat some credits to buy an SMG. It takes the feeling of achieving something. Please dislike it, maybe I’m way too oldschool for this, but I like to earn anything and not going the easy way.

(StarBurst) #20

Pay 100 for a new mission. Simples.
