Minimum System Requirements

(Shadedluck) #1

Does anyone have any idea on the minimum system requirements to run this game? I’d like to have an idea before I drop 50$ on steam just to not be able to stand it because of screen chop and lag. So, does anyone have any idea if it will be similar to counter strike or more like BFBC2(laggy as all hell without a supercomputer).

I’m running a Dell Inspiron 530 with
-Intel Core 2 Duo processor @2.40 GHz
-3 gigs of ram
-ATI Radeon HD 2400 pro
To get an idea I used to play WoW on normal-high settings without any chop, except in the major cities where everyone hung out.
I also play CS:S without any lag on normal-high settings.

BC2 needs a supercomputer?! Interesting.

(Shadedluck) #4

Oh thanks Tec I couldn’t find that before. I’ll delete this now :stuck_out_tongue:

You forget to post you gfx card?
But as stated above, the requirements haven’t been anounced yet. Although it would be a good timing

I doubt it will run as smooth as BC2. In case you missed that’s a big hint.

  1. If your not planing on upgrading your PC, and will ether not play it at all or play a console instead;
then don’t worry about buying it right now, PC specs will be known before its too late to get a pre-order package.

  2. Your computer is no power house, true, But it should still be able to handle BFBC2 fairly well, so long as you don’t go over board with the graphic settings. (your computer might be suffering from software issues more then lack of hardware : viruses, malware, crappy 3rd party applications, etc)

  3. Check out my thread: http://www.splashdamage.com/forums/showthread.php?t=23531
I have been paranoid that I too wouldn’t be able to brink with good graphic levels, and the following comments has lead me to believe I will do well enough for now, and will save my money for an upgrade at a more suitable time.

(E_Zeee) #8

Core 2 E4600 2.4 ghz
2 gigs ram
XP Pro
8800 GTX 768

I can play BFBC2 a bit laggy, low-med settings.

I’d rather doubt I could play Brink on this and have it run decent, though it would prob run it.

Does anyone have an idea/suggestion for an upgrade for my video card? It can’t be too expensive, I’m looking in the 100-200 dollar range. Also if I even need an upgrade. Thanks.

(DarkangelUK) #10

How about the new GeForce GTX 550 Ti for $150?

(Maawdawg) #11

Yeah for <$200 you have a ton of options, anything up to an AMD 6850 or an Nvidia GTX460 1GB, as long as you have a motherboard slot for them and a PSU that has connections and output to handle them. Both cards are probably overkill actually, and more than you should budget cost-wise, considering the rest of the system.

I would wait for specs and go from there, as mentioned above. It is the smartest option, even though waiting sucks.

(tokamak) #12

Yeah it’s pretty heavy compared to similar games.

(Shadedluck) #13

I was looking at these two: http://www.gpureview.com/show_cards.php?card1=615&card2=633
Because ideally I don’t want to spend more than 150, but will if I have to. I’m thinking the http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814130600&nm_mc=AFC-C8Junction&cm_mmc=AFC-C8Junction--Video%20Cards--Evga-_-14130600&AID=10440897&PID=2240911&SID=
specifically, as that is very much in my price range.

(crazyfoolish) #14

Which of these graphics cards would you guys recommend buying to play games like Brink on medium/high settings?

This one http://www.nvidia.com/object/product-geforce-gts-450-us.html

Or this one http://www.geforce.com/#/Hardware/GPUs/geforce-gtx-550ti

I have an AMD ATHLON quad core 3 Gigahertz processor and 4 Gigabytes of RAM.

Thanks

Btw is the 550ti new? I don’t remember seeing it before.

(LyndonL) #15

550 is better if the same price

(Nail) #16

personnally, I’d go with the ATI/AMD card for thr cost

(LyndonL) #17

They’re both nVidia…?

I was always an ATI fan, but the latest gen of nVidia is wiping the floor with ATI from the benches I’ve seen. I’m about to buy either a couple of GTX480 or 570s depending if the 480 comes down in price in the next couple of months with the 6990’s release.

(Killgar) #18

I don’t really get the point of the 550, the 460 seems better at the same price.

550 ~$140-$160

460 ~$150-$190

(LyndonL) #19

I was comparing it to the 450 not the 460 as per the poster’s question.

(crazyfoolish) #20

Thanks for your advice.
I just opened pc and found that its power supply is only 320 watts. The 550 requires a minimum of 400 watts. Is there a cheap way to upgrade my power supply? Is it possible at all?

Also how do i tell if i have the right graphics slot? (bus?)
It seems that my computer has at least 4 different graphics cards slots.

Sorry for the noobish questions. Thanks.
