Mine Tactics on Fuel Dump

(Ragnar_40k) #21

This message will only appear after your team has built a command post (and the mapper used the sethqstatus command to enable it). I think the distance is the same as for spotting mines with battle sense level 4. So its very short when you running/strafe jumping, but enough when you move slow in areas where you expect mines.

And about mine laying:[ul][]Never place mines against any (destroyable) vehicle, only against infantery. Small servers, with 3vs3 at most, maybe an exception (plant the mines close to the vehicle so that it is destroyed instantly after it is repaired).[]When the objective changed (e.g. on Fueldump after the Tunneldoor has been destroyed or on Oasis after the Old city wall is down) free your mines by disarming them (or run over them and commit suicide). No one need mines at the Footbridge when the Allies are attacking the Fueldump …[]Vary your mine pattern slightly when you (re)plant them at key places.[]Plant mines near moving objects, where they will explode, even if the enemy avoids them. E.g. on Railgun: when the switch is raised/lowered all mines near it will explode. When the tug starts moving all mines near it will explode, even if the enemy jumped over them into the tug. Or on Radar: Plant behind the door: the door will trigger the mines.[/ul]

This is described inside the manual (yes there is one, installed onto your harddisc together with the game). Basically it is to wound the enemy and/or to get wounded and to stay alive after it for 30 seconds.

(Joe) #24

do you mean to say i get wounded down to 15 and stay safe the whole game without getting killed i ll be awarded highest battle sense award at end of game, or do you only get battle sense points one time per each wound?

RTFM - Read The F***ing Manual

But I’m also guessing that you were being sarcastic

Since he has no clue and I’m feeling generous.

Battle sense is awarded every 30 seconds.
You get XP depending on what you do in that time.

Players gain ZERO points for each 30 seconds survived while ‘Cold’ i.e. not actively engaged in combat. You’ll earn 2XP per 30 seconds while ‘Warm’ (you inflicted damage), 5XP per 30 seconds while ‘Hot’ (dealing AND receiving damage) and 8XP if ‘Super-Hot’ (killing and receiving damage).

If you die before the 30 seconds ticks over, then you lose whatever XP you earned in the time before you died. You must survive the 30 seconds.

BTW, the manual is in your Enemy Territory folder, under Docs, then Help, open default.html and there’s a link to it.

Mines: don’t lay them were everybody expect them because (good) players will just jump over these places whether they know there are mines or not (example: MainGate FuelDump, OldCityWall Oasis, behind Truck GoldRush, SideEntranceDoor Radar) and any half competent CovOps will regulary check these places. If you are playing against noobs just ignore this tip and plant away :), otherwise plant your mines on the way to these objective and vary your places all the time.
Don’t wast your mines! I can’t tell how often I’ve seen a noob engineer planting all ten mines on the same spot… what a terrible wast. If a CovOps checks for mines he’ll discover them all in one go and if an enemy rushes into your field he’ll surely die but take out most of the mines. And, of course, other important places will remain unprotected.

Did you read my post and did you understand it?

Here the important part again: This is described inside the manual (yes there is one, installed onto your harddisc together with the game). So take a look into the subdirectory where ET is installed (or on Windows use the Start-menu) and you will find the manual in electronic form.

sorry hadnt read the manual when i posted my question,
i was only asking a side question but now i beleive i completely killed the original subject of the thread, unless some has something more detailed to say on my mine laying on radar, and oasis ect

Agreed about most of that. Useless XP whoring sucks. However, in regards to the CPs, they are vital to their team. Many people take faster charge speed for granted, but it can be the little edge that wins games. When I’m engy I always make it my business to keep my teams CP built, and when I’m covop I keep the enemys CP satchelled. A good Axis engy on FD should always sneak back to rebuild the CP when possible. Also, a good Axis covop on Oasis should always sneak back to satchel the Allies CP. And on Goldrush, the only reason for an Axis covop to exist is to harass the Allies by keeping their CP satchelled and hiding outside to do it again and again.

In short: DON’T TAKE THE CP FOR GRANTED!!!

And while I’m talking about engies, it irks me to no end when my team is running around playing Q3A in 1940’s clothes when I’m Allied engy. I think everyone will agree that Allied Engineer is hands down the most difficult position in the game, because you have a lot of work to do and are always the target of the enemy, AND offense is more difficult than defense to begin with. I used to have a key bound to team chat something like “remember, the only class that matters is the engineer, and your only reason for existing is to provide support for the engineers!” but I gave up because nobody cared. Would it kill a covop to toss a smoke canister on me while I’m busy building under heavy fire? Is it to much to ask that you actually cover me when I holler “Cover Me!”? Why is it so hard for teammates to understand that when I’m busy working, I can’t defend myself, and your JOB is to fight for me and keep the enemy away from me? The engineer should have a huge flashing icon over their heads that says “I am your only concern”.

Ok I’m done bitching :stuck_out_tongue:
