mg42 through trees?

(bani) #1

Was spectating some players and it seems that some of them have learned how to shoot through trees (eg, you can mg42 someone from behind a tree, but they cant shoot you because the tree blocks their bullets).

I think this is because the mg42 muzzle point is calculated some distance in front of you, so the bullets originate from in front of the tree…

Anyone else noticed this?

its kinda bug when u spec someone in prone position with the mg in ur eyes he a bit at the left side according to hes real position. So he dose not shoot thro tress :stuck_out_tongue:

Dont know, maybe your viewing someone who has tweaked there settings to remove leaves and such or just tweaked there FOV

You don’t even need tweaked settings. You would be amazed how may kills you get get predicting where someone is going to be, even if you can’t actually see them at that point. Especially using an unlimited ammo gun…

In ET and rtcw, you can almost always shoot through the branches and leaves, just not the trunk. Weapon blocking is done for whole faces, it doesn’t test against the transparent and solid protions of the texture.

In any case, I don’t think any of that was what bani was talking about. I think he means you deploy your mg42 very close to a solid object, so only the barrel sticks through. Then your bullets come out the other side, but no one can hit you.

yep thats exactly it. the barrel of the mg42 projects out the front of the tree. it doesnt have anything to do with spectator fov.
