MG Nests Are A Noob Trap.

(Black) #1

No I’m not kidding, this is really how I feel about them and I will go on to explain why because I’m getting tired of users using turrets and getting their skull caved in with bullets or eradicated by a sniper.

Firstly, I’d like to once again state that their should NEVER be a point in time in DB where you are still and not moving. That is legitimately the fastest way to get killed in DB. The fact that the using the turret locks your body in place with your head poking out for easy shots does not make this situation any better. Turrets just don’t suit that kind of game play

Watch any competitive DB match and you will see players just completely avoid mounted turrets because they know it’s just suicide.

The only time in which a turret can be useful is when players are simply not paying attention, other then that, if you start shooting you are probably either going to get headshotted to death or sniped in the face by a Vassili.

However there are some good turret placements.
Turrets such as the one on train yard during the first objective since alot of people turn their backs to it and don’t pay attention and there is good cover from the wall.
But if we are talking about turrets such as the one on Chapel, now come on now.
You are going to get shot in the face.

Really there just needs to be better placement of them but maybe just removing alot of them that don’t protect or defend an objective needs to go.

(chicHouse) #2

you are right. turrets were designed to trap / harm disoriented players rushing for the objective alone.

Wait really?
That makes my whole post irrelevant T_T.

So people have bad placement with turrets…welcome to pubs

(Szakalot) #5

i think he means the mgnests? they are definitely very effective, if someone watches your back you can hold an angle with deadlyfirepower

(Black) #6

Yeah let me change the title.

But regardless if someone “watches your back” it still doesn’t give you protection of getting shot in the face.

(watsyurdeal) #7

Personally I feel like MG nests should be destroy able, and offer some amount of protection when being used.

Honestly Cool would be a better augment if it gave you some kind of damage resistance while using an MG.

(3N1GM4) #8

if you’re on an mg long enough for it to overheat, you’re either pro or dead.

(ASTOUNDINGSHELL) #9

Well fidn them suefull, especally if you can cotnorl your fire and take out the snipers first, that mg kill them quickly and the lfinch amkes htem miss their shots, its not the best idea to be on them, But i carry my Mg with me anyway (K-121)

(GottaBeGreg) #10

Its like deciphering code with you astoundingShellfish… Slow down buddy, take a second to spell the roses, perhaps even give your reply a once over for quicktyping errors. ( I mean this playfully and not to offend)

(GottaBeGreg) #11

Hahah Im going to leave the original reply I left because I didn’t even realize I put spell the roses instead of smell. Hahhaa.

(DatAssparagus) #12

I see what you’re getting at.

I don’t think they’re 100% useless.

In comp play, they will be much more difficult to pull off as effectively as in pubs, but that can be said about anything really.

There’s also technique to shooting the damn thing. You can spray it but don’t expect to get more than maybe 1-2 kills.

I’ve had so much of an easier time getting 5+ kills with it just tapping it very fast at heads. Its VERY strong.

But as discussed, you’re vulnerable af. Its the trade off.

There’s also an issue with getting off the damn thing, there is this delay and gives the guy shooting at you ample amount of time to hit you. :frowning: If that is ever fixed, MG play would definitely get more attention.

(KattiValk) #13

MGs are in a good place currently. It’s really awkward getting on and off them, but the ability to tear through anyone pushing a point is incredibly strong (ex: Trainyard MG at the first objective). You’re not supposed to sit on it, view it as a power up to guarantee a kill on one or two key players.

(Ctrix) #14

I’ve destroyed on a multitute of MGs, the most impressive probably being on the last stage in Terminal. No, not the one on the balcony, the one right down in the middle. 25 mg kills or something like that. Pretty good if I may say so myself.

It’s easy. Don’t overextend. Really this applies to anything you do in any game. If you get greedy you die. Don’t be greedy. The turrets enhance an already fortified position. They’re not the tool to do the actual fortifying. If a sniper is already emplaced, he’ll just pop you in the face. But if you have a clear killzone and a sniper peeks out at you, he’ll die so fast it’s not even funny.

A turret is a force multiplier. To come back to the Terminal turret, you can hold one approach almost single handedly. All that’s required is the team cover your back, and goes after people who slip up to the balcony. And then they lose, because people switch to Vassili instead of playing attack, because they can’t find a way past either side because of the force multiplier. Sure sometimes you have to get off and do stuff, but before the enemy realises you’ve been off you’re already back. Medics are also great for obvious reasons. Use some Proxy mines to cover your back/balcony. Easy way to win a game you’re already favourited in.

When i use redeye or phantom, they helpme A LOT. I smoke the turret and switches between my dress ar (1 bullet per click) and the mgs 1000000000 bullets per click. That gets the enemy completely crazy or being invisible with phantom, let all the people advance on their way and BANG trough their backs.
So… what i’m saying it’s if you can use your head properly and plannify strategies it’ll become in a powerfull gun!
EDIT:
Also is fun for killing new people.

(FalC_16) #16

if you use the turret in the right time you can decimate the enemy…the fact that you can get easily killed is just a nice balance to its damage output. Don’t see any problem with them.

(Reddeadcap) #17

I’ve seen use for them as both an attacker and defender, my only question is the one placed across the chapel in Chapel, the main use I see for it is to use it on the attackers as they go up-hill and no use for the attackers themselves when they have to repair the ramp needed to get to it.

The same can be said about the ones placed at the spawn for the defenders, but I’ve used both as a defender once the EV has been delivered and taken a few people down before it’s overheating.

The turrets in my opinion need a bit more cover, a foward facing gunshield like the EV has for the back of the gunner if they could be destroyed as @Watsyurdeal wants them, also a turret on the window next to the gen for the gates in underground would be cool.

(Ctrix) #18

The attackers in chapel can use the ramp turret when they’re pushing around the corner and up to the church. If you let the defenders use it to shoot you in the back then your team is just bad.

(stealthyCharm) #19

It can be a game breaker. I had 5 minutes on the clock left and they were close to finishing the EV on Chapel, EV was probably only evenly a lined with alley. And I was the only one alive, they repaired the EV. It starts moving. Teammates spawn back in, they are getting shot by the enemies, EV is now closing on it. I go on turret as they enemies focuses are towards the front and not back. Got a quad with a last kill. Won the match, it was one of my greatest moments.

(LifeupOmega) #20

Stealthy, that’s probably because you know WHEN to use the turret. Noobs will just sit on it and watch the EV roll away from them. I’ve seen people at first ramp on Chapel sitting there while the EV is nearly at its checkpoint.
