Merc Refund Event?

(Cgz27) #1

I think it would be cool if we were given a chance to refund/remove a merc once or twice throughout the year.
At perhaps 20-5010-30% (or low base fee of maybe 6.9k?) of course. Would help some people get over their regret over early purchases (ie vasilli :^) )
Also yes I wanna refund remove rhino

Edits:
-uh yea like its not even regret, sometimes people do stupid sh**
-oh i said 20-50 % “of course”, whoops
-Not that I hate Rhino, I just would rather rotate through free mercs and stick with my favourites (Kira/Fragger, Vasilli/Aura/Bushwhacker, free merc). Feels kinda bad having a merc that you don’t really feel like playing a lot in your Barracks while knowing they are still there if you are a little OCD like me lol. Minimal mercs as felt needed and hoarding credits because I love the big numbers heh heh
-I enjoy the spontaneity of choosing from the slightly random rotation every week
@MidnightButterSweats suggested the idea of being able to scrap Mercs for special loadout cards etc, this could perhaps also extend to Cases or whatever else there is like those weapon kits or something idk how it works still lol

A ‘refund’ event, in a F2P game?

lol?

Well, you can buy mercs with real money anyways, but it’s not like being a F2P game has anything to do with whether this would be an acceptable event or not.

(DarkMatterMatt) #5

Just be like me, buy everyone

(bushyg) #6

20% of what you paid for Vassili is 6k credits, which isn’t even worth it, especially down the line when you’re bored of your current mercs and want to mix it up a bit.

It’s a little bit absurd to ask for an event because you regret your choices. There’s heaps of guides; on steam, these forums, reddit and even youtube about which mercs to purchase when you’re new to the game. Maybe you could do some research for your next purchase, at least enough that you don’t wish for a refund shortly after.

(GatoCommodore) #7

you will regret it if you do refund.
i bought every mercs except fletcher when i reached level 30.

getting mercs are easy.

(LifeupOmega) #8

I wouldn’t ever regret refunding Rhino.

(DirtyDav) #9

I couldn’t play the game knowing that there’s mercs I have unlocked that I’m never going to. Kinda OCD-ish I guess but honestly I’ve been playing long enough that 50k creds really doesn’t make THAT big of a difference, wouldn’t bother refunding any merc for so few creds (even rhino).

(ImSploosh) #10

There’s no point. 50k credits doesn’t take long to earn. It’s not like mercs cost a ton. They’re all purchasable for a reasonable in-game credit price. Compared to other F2P games, this is great. There’s no ridiculous real cash price for mercs, guns, etc.

A refund event is not needed. The time you spend waiting for an event, you could have earned more than half, if not all of the mercs. You can get a merc a week generally (do your missions, daily bonuses, don’t waste money on cases). Better to have all of the mercs than just some. So just keep saving and buy your next merc.

Instead of a refund event why not just have a crafting event that allows you to grind up mercs, once, or special loadouts like Alienware cards and stuff like credit boosters, or even credits, for a substantial amount of scrap?

TBH I would absolutely grind up my snipers to get some nice cards for my other classes. I also have a Vassili alienware loadout card I can’t get rid of or hide. It’s obnoxiously in the way and I would much rather grind it for scrap and get it out of my inventory. I also have toolkits I don’t want and credit boosters I’ll never use that I would rather just turn into scrap. I have this really annoying giant red 5 on my Barracks tab that won’t go away until I use all that trash I don’t want. At any given time I have over 100k credits and nothing to do with them. Couldn’t I at least turn them into loadout cards???

Yea sorry, I didn’t actually mean it had to be an “event” just something that could happen.

Good insights. I did give a range of percentages because it doesn’t matter to me the amount. it was simply an example. Other people say they don’t even have as much time to play and would gladly welcome any amount possible. I suppose it could be just a fixed amount for lets say 5k? eh whatever yo

I literally bought it out of a whim and forgot that I had decided beforehand that I didn’t actually want to buy him (yet?) ( I was up too damn late playing DB haha)
Of course I think these refunds should only apply if you have played the mercs for a low amount of time (i.e. 1-2 games) and only happen rarely.
I do in fact do a lot of reading for any game ( mostly just to check out the community and now reddit memes ) almost as much as I actually play and I generally do well with almost all the mercs having gotten a general idea of what they do before playing them.

Personally my reason is just that I simply don’t want to see him in my inventory haha (OCD af), I even sent a support ticket and they were very kind to refund (or was it remove) Fragger from my inventory before (I played him only like 0-10 minutes at the time) . I have gotten rejected for Rhino though, possibly because I had refunded Fragger before.
I WOULD GLADLY just have Rhino removed for no credits at all ( hell they could even give people 6666 credits for meme’s sake :^D )

I have a slight addiction for just playing only rotation mercs to fill in my in-game roster ( although my main is basically Kira with ( Vasilli (first merc) , Aura (2nd main I suppose) and now Bush( as main engi thought I owned but it was actully free week lmao), even rebought Fragger who I now play often. )

It really doesn’t make a difference. I myself have played many F2P games (5-10 yrs worth) and pride myself on being a player who generally steers away from using real money to affect in-game performance ( getting guns/mercs early).
The rate at which you earn credits in this game I feel is extremely reasonable and I die a little inside when I see players complain.

I think that is an interesting idea as well. Again sorry for saying “event” I just meant it would be like a one time thing. Or a chance for people to get rid of mercs they won’t ever play or like seeing in their inventory.

Anyway, I appreciate the replies I honestly did not think I would get more than 1 or 2 replies haha. Also yea I like Rhino I literally went 31-13 in my first actual game with him ( Stopwatch Undergruond). I just would rather have a few mercs as possible in my inventory cuz I feel cool

But yea its mostly just an ocd-ish personal preference thing for me to not see Rhino in my barracks.
Just gonna mention I have like 270222k credits guys lmao.

(Cgz27) #13

Looks like I’m spamming Rhino

ToT

dream is dead

(NikolaiLev) #14

This is honestly a great idea. I don’t personally have any mercs I’d want to refund but it’d be a decent reason for people to return to the game to mix up their roster.

(GatoCommodore) #15

why not just buy all the mercs

(NikolaiLev) #16

why not just buy all the mercs[/quote]

Because it takes on average 118 days of constant playing to acquire them, or $154, which is money I’d much rather spend on three other games?

The game is grindy if you actually take the time to do the math about currency income.

lol funny

(TheFluffyOne) #18

Personally, I wouldn’t want any kind refund for the mercs.

I like the challenge of getting 50k. It’s not too easy and it’s not too hard, and the reward is a new merc with a nifty new play-style.
It’s a set goal that makes the game more rewarding to play.

(Mc1412013) #19

Um hell na to the na na na hell na

(Cgz27) #20

Lol Merry Christmas all.

Again, refund can be little as 10% I don’t even care.

And the grind really isn’t much of a grind because from what I’ve read (and kinda experienced) it really does only take like a week to get one merc JUST by doing daily missions ( like 1-2 hours of play per day? ).

Oh right and it isn’t much of a grind if you are having fun duh haha
Compared to something like LoL and some other free-to-play FPS the credit gain feels pretty damn reasonable already and there are many others that agree.

Of course its definitely easier if you are able to rack up tons of points. (I usually get over 20 kills per stopwatch game for example and play almost all mercs to the same level)

Main point of my post that I wanted to restate was just the opportunity for players to straight up get rid of a merc from your Barracks ( with possibly no refund ). This could also perhaps be something like a celebration for this game coming out of open beta.

If anyone plays LoL, this is the almost equivalent of deleting teemo
