(system) #1

Well Just want to know if its good or not and can’t find specs for this type of processor aka the ram type because i don’t know if 2gb will be the max for a 3.06ghz as it is the max for the 2.4ghz :stuck_out_tongue:

Medion MID2030
15"
3.06GHz
768MB RAM (upgrade when i find the right info)
WIFI Inbuilt
DVDRW
80GB HDD (upgrade as well)
Battery Toshiba

Any useful tips on how to make it good like what operating system? XP OR WINDOWS 7
Gaming mouse if its needed?
Using virtual memory USBs? would that also be good?

or is it just crap?

Google tells me it uses standard 184-pin DDR (i.e. normal computer RAM, not the normal laptop SO-DIMMs) at PC3200/400MHz or PC2700/333MHz, really either would be fine and won’t make much difference.

XP Home 32-bit was limited to 4 GB of RAM, but often this is shared with video memory, so you might only see ~3.2 GB. But then again as the laptop only has 2 RAM slots and I don’t know if they ever made PC3200 or PC2700 in 2 GB varieties, so you might be limited to 2 GB in total (i.e. 2 x 1 GB).

But this is a single core CPU in an 11 year old laptop, so really you get what you pay for, which in this case isn’t much.

P.S. What does this have to do with W:ET

comp will only use 2Gig RAM max, any 32 bit OS will only recognize 3.2 Gig max. My old Toshiba can only use 1.5 G. The comp will be fine as a client for casual W:ET, wouldn’t want to comp play but only other use would be W:ET TV viewer or RCON monitor (what I used my old lappy for)
but it’s a piece of poo for anything other than facebox or email imho
