Medics get way to much XP for easy tasks

(Trypsinogen) #1

You need to either balance the XP gains between classes or just get rid of the ranked scoring system entirely. As it exists currently, the scoring system is stupid.

(scub) #2

its points, who cares… after they hit lvl 20 then what?
besides without medics the game is pointless and you’d be dead more than alive so when you get heals and revives give them a little thanks and stop worrying how many points they get… the objective is to win and without them you won’t.

(Pandajenkins) #3

Medics get tons of points in TF2 and BC2. I don’t see the big deal… it is a team focused game. Not a competition for the most points.

(SentencedToBurn) #4

probably because being a medic is a thankless job (why I will never be one, it’s just boring as all hell), and they give more points for it to ENCOURAGE people to be medics who ACTUALLY REVIVE their teammates instead of walking past them and trying to engage the enemy like retards…

(Trypsinogen) #5

If it’s a team focused game, then why have a ranking score system at all within a team???

I’m an above average player that likes to learn the metagame and practice to become especially competitive. It bothers me when someone who sucks can easily end up higher than me on the scoreboard and be called the “Overall best player” just because they can walk up to a teammate and press a button.

I’m sure many other people feel the same way. This will be just one of the reasons why this game will die out relatively soon.

(Heburnll) #6

I agree with it. Gives incentive to play medic. After all. Soldiers get over 100 xp per ammo resupply if you get them when they are low. Easy xp if you’re worried about it. Fortunately, i play games to have fun, not rank up.
After all, in WET you lost all your exp after the campaign was over.

Because the ranking is still saying how much experience players are earning. And like others are saying, medics deserve more points because it gives people the incentive to actually be useful and heal team mates instead of trying to be a one man army. This isn’t COD after all.

Lastly, they have the ‘best class’ rankings to separate players by rank because of point difference and to please people like you. I still can’t understand your complaining.

Do you get points over and over for reviving the same bad player over and over ? This in my opinion was the problem with W:ET xp system. Long ago, on ET:QW forum, I suggested a modified system - for limited time, medic gets credit for accomplishments of his patient. So if I would revive a player and that player plants a bomb on objective, or kills 3 players near an objective, etc medic would get a fraction of his xp reward.

In this system medics would be rewarded for healing people who matter and get less xp for healing Kenny’s. They would be especially rewarded for escorting good players or players who care about objectives.

But I guess they didn’t listen ?

For points reasons, yeah, Medics can easily cap 8,000 XP… I know a guy who can’t even kill me unless he boosts the crap out of himself and he’s using a weapon with ammo and I have none and trying to knife me…

He worked up a strategy, where he is a heavy medic, revives anybody who goes done, and buffs anything that breathes, and if anybody tries to take him and his Chinzor MG… which he doesn’t really need to use much because either an engineer he always camps with, lays down mines and buffs his Chinzor, so he takes anybody down in a few shots.

So yeah, Medic is pretty over powered overall, and it sucks because I know very well, BF2, BF:BC2, and even TF2 have overpowered/annoying medics… but that’s okay because I still own them.

I just honestly wish medics didn’t get so much XP because I like earning the Best Overall title, and my friend who does that annoying medic strategy gets it because he simply camps with an engineer… However, owning him is really satisfying.

I agree with the OP. Not that medics are “cheating” or doing anything wrong, they are playing right, the exp gains just need to be balanced. In my opinion killing others should grant you more exp.

(Norb) #11

I dont get this thread at all, if the medic scoring more points then you is a problem you cant be playing right. Ive been playing as a Light Engineer last few hours and ive cleared well over 8000 credits its about finding the other things for you to do side objectives etc

(JackyAce) #12

I think Brink is well balanced, i used to play medic, soldier and engineers, its really like the guy before me just said, its all about finding the “right path” for yourselves. Another point is, what really annoys me if ppl talk about medics, in fight they focus on soldiers, enginners or whatever, but almost never on medics, there is no point in acting like this in a fight and ofc if u kill everything else, just not the medic, why shouldn’t he earn his points?

(CENB71) #13

And they don’t even do their job right, They completed their objective… yes, but they just random buff and healing. I’m so sick of medic go rambo while they suppose to stay safe and defend hacking/repairing objective so they don’t die and can revive/healing us.

Truly Medics do get easy XP but that’s sort of an FPS tradition to encourage people to look after their teammates. The scoreboard will never reflect your true contribution to your team’s effort anyway, so I’d just ignore it. Every normal person will respect a player who knows how to shoot and where to position himself.

(Avoc) #15

Rambo medics still exist I see. It boggles my mind how SD could give the medic in ET the highest HP, Natural HP-Regen, Med-Packs AND Adrenaline and not consider it unbalanced.

(Kardec) #16

Somebody’s mad for not getting ressed enough

(Deadwalking) #17

The Medics that gain massive XP are buffing every single person they see, buffing themselves(no xp,but helps to stay alive), staying in the frontlines to get the revives, taken a ridiculous amount of fire, getting his kills on, doing every main objective while at it(guarding a gate or door, escorting players or maintenance bot), and usually get incapacitated a ton.

It is all about how much you can do

All other classes have things to do as well and when they do them can clear good xp counts also.

Just say No to Nerfing!

(tokamak) #18

Those points don’t go to rewards. A proper xp-distribution is pretty essential if you want everyone to do the right things.

So this guy you know helps his team mates with buffs and revives them when they die. What a terrible player.

There’s one thing i truely loath about medic’s and thats the temporary INF health buff. if that gets removed i would consider the medic to be erfect, too many times i’ve played against clans with tags on the PC only to be met with an indestructable heavy with a BUFFED minigun, Kevlar etc. drives me nuts.

So get rid of the INF health and it’s all good
