Max FPS in ET?

Hey guys… I recently bought me a new computer, and today I installed ET… Now something weird happened.
I can get a maximum FPS of 90. It’s 90 All the time. Sometimes it drops to 89 but not lower. :frowning:
Also, if I typ in /cg_maxfps 999, my fps does NOT improve… Sticks around 90.

My computer:

AMD Athlon 64 3500+ (2200 mHz)
GeForce 6800GT 256 Mb AGP
1024 Mb Ram (Dual mode)
Asus A8V-Deluxe mobo
160 GB HDD

Since my loading time is only 1.76 seconds, I wonder why I can’t get my FPS above 90.
It’s even around 200 in Half-Life 2 so there IS something wrong…
I turned off my VSYNC but that didn’t help much.

Anyone might know what my problem could be?

Sounds odd. Have you tried capping it to, say, 10, just to see if it’s tangible.

Hmmm, I did /com_maxfps 20, the FPS was 20
I did /com_maxfps 85, the FPS was 90
I did /com_maxfps 999, the FPS was 300+ so fixed :slight_smile:

BTW, what do you get in timedemo?

Seconds: 58.9
FPS: 84.8 FPS

Is that any good? :slight_smile:
(I have to say I had quite a few programs running on the background (I don’t know if that makes the FPS drop, but I’ll try to close some of them and run the demo again :)))

Programs in the background will make the FPS drop, yes.

It improved… But not that much.

Maybe because cg_maxfps != com_maxfps?

Honestly, I don’t even remember my own score, but you can compare it to the comments in the link I posted.

I think you can squeeze more out of your system with that set-ups than that.

I was thinking the same… But I do have AA and AF on 4x and 8x. But turning those down didn’t really help… FPS improved with 4 or something :frowning:

This can run 5 ET’s smooth
