Maps and Gametypes

(Weapuh) #21

They are 2 different games, that’s exactly what I AM pointing out. DM can stay with the purely DM genre because that’s where it works. Whereas Brink does not fit great with DM or TDM modes because it is an objective game.

Sry dude you’re missing the point where you can’t just call something “like” something and say therefore it will be great for ‘X’.
‘Mode’ you mean? and I don’t think so, unless you are talking about the console version of the game.

Just used the game’s server browser,
Total servers: 2000
Squad Deathmatch servers: 308
Empty SDM servers: 124 out of 308
I’m talking about PC.

2000 servers with 4 different type of game mods.
308/2000 servers that runs the same mode is popular enough.

(MrX) #23

It is an objective team based game so there are some objectives like planting the bomb ,taking an outpost ,moving a vechicle and these happen in the same map by different players .It is more dynamic .Brink looks like ET and uses smart that is all .Putting a tdm mod removes all the tactical gameplay and makes it a run and gun game but w8 there is already cod for that. Brink is something different and should remain that way cause everybody else mimic cod and cod is same from cod4 ,it just changes numbers.

(Rex) #24

If you want TDM go back to Cod! It won’t come for Brink.

Seriously, there are so many CoD trolls spamming senseless posts everywhere.
What the fk do they want here with Brink?

For all the CoD fans:
Brink won’t be your CoD8! None of the sh
ty features, like TDM, will be available in Brink!

(Weapuh) #25

I think that was needed

(Tec) #26

That’s why i play and bought only COD4.

As you say in othe words:
“Putting an objective mod removes all the blah blah gameplay and makes it a blah blah game but w8 there is already ET for that.”

(Weapuh) #27

have fun then

(MrX) #28

Oh guess what et developers make brink:O Surprise!
Go play cod now

CoD 8 is ironicly going to be more of an adventure/fps, which is ironic because thats why Infinity Ward left (glad they jumped that ship) because EA or whoever didn’t want them to expand CoD and now they let Sledgehammer Studios do it, the only reason I even like CoD is that it keeps 12 year olds away from good games that have even an ounce of depth so they better not break out from that area or else good games will get swarmed with the little ****ers

(Seyu) #30

I don’t get CoD fans’ new-found camaraderie with Infinity Ward’s original team (in case that is who you were talking about), didn’t they give you guys MW2?
By the way Seyu,
on BC2 Squad DeathMatch is popular mod.
I’ve never been able to get paired up with people on it.

(madoule) #33

this discussion reminds me of kindergarten… seriously, what the heck?

lets get this straight:
IMO there certainly will come a point when a mod for brink TDM pops up from the community (i for myself will try it out). this is inevitable and controlled by popular demand.

what i absolutely don’t get is the fact that ppl, either did not go to H0rse’s compendium, read up on the game elsewhere or what not BUT dive into a discussion complaining that brink itself does not cater this demand. that’s rude and all those that cry for this should not be here at all… certainly not if they do not stick to a decent use of words and content…

(Iur'Tae'Mont) #34

As a former Halo player, this man speaks the truth.

:stroggbanana:

I don’t think BRINK should worry about a TDM mode. WAR did okay, and they didn’t just Copy/paste from WoW. They could have done better on Balancing issues (the only reason I quit WAR), but it was nice to see an MMO focus primarily on PvP(Objective based at that.) instead of PvE.

(Herandar) #35

SDM is the least popular mode. That was Seyu’s point, and he backed it up. Less than 10% of the PC servers are hosting an active SDM game. 60% of the PC SDM servers are inactive, Stop trying to claim a partial win by saying it is ‘popular enough’.

I play on 360, and while I’ve only personally played maybe 15 SDM rounds, I do watch my brother play in them, and I haven’t seen a full SDM game in months.

Don’t count out DLC!
Sry dude you’re wrong here.

First you’re comparing between 2 different games. You can compare Quake to UT or
Warsaw. Brink comes from a different genre of games.

Looks like Brink bring a new type of gameplay mechanic with SMART.
From videos that i’ve saw the gameplay (only gameplay) looks like a combination
of Mirror Edge COD and killzone 2 and it will fit great with TDM.
Sorry just to ask, have you played RtCW, W:ET or ET:QW? That’s where Brink’s core gameplay lies… and those roots are older than all 3 of the games you mentioned (I don’t count SMART as part of the core gameplay, but still class it as synonymous with the title).

(Crytiqal) #37

I assume he has had lots of experience in multiple online games.

Like CoD4… and CoDMW… and CoDBO etc…

(SockDog) #38

You lot crow on all you like but the fact people still post about alternate modes, female models etc is because there is a demand for it. Much in the same way we now have persistent ranks and perks to satisfy the group of gamers who play for virtual awards rather than fun.

You may not like or care for the idea but it doesn’t mean you need to shut down every discussion and request about it. Maybe more people would be able to post in Female Model threads if they didn’t end up getting closed due to petty **** stirring.

(H0RSE) #39

But is it truly? Do players even really know what they want? Perhaps they just think they want those things, because they have become accustomed to them or were expecting them? Perhaps after they play Brink, all the “demand” they had for those things, will melt away.

(Cankor) #40

Here’s the general thinking:

Once those people who are used to playing TDM games, or games with little or no teamwork, play Brink and SEE THE LIGHT, they will no longer be satisfied with a TDM style game because they will seem shallow and hollow by comparison.

My question for those of you who are asking for TDM, have you ever played a SD game before? In terms of team based objective style games, no one does it better. BC2 objective maps, which I have heard some reviewers state are the pinnacle of team based play, are a shallow substitution.

In TDM, what do you do? You try and kill the other guys and get a great K/D ratio, that’s it, there’s nothing more. In SD games so often the game comes down to a last minute plant or disarm, or some other objective completion, and usually it’s because some aspect of team play made it happen. As an example from an ETQW game last night I got killed diffusing the bomb, but a technician recognized I was the objective class and rezzed me first while an Oppressor put a shield over the plant; I’m rezzed and manage to get the disarm 2 seconds before it would have gone off with enemy bullets bouncing off the shield. It took 3 guys all working together to make that happen, and I can tell you it’s really fun! You don’t get anything close to that in TDM.

So, what everyone is saying, is play the game (or at least some otehr SD game) first before you start asking for alternative modes, chances are once you do you will no longer care about a TDM mode.
