map specific graphics glitch

the map When i play church i get this weird flashing texture thingy happening.

its very random and hard to get screen shots of.

heres 2 screens in relatively the same position the first is normal the second is with some textures flashing.

also this now happens on the RTCW maps Ice and infamy.

Now before everyone starts saying its heat i dont believe that,due to it being just these maps. IE i can play for hours on end but as soon as church comes on i get the flashing and when its over it goes away.

I have a Geforce 4 ti4200 and run the 45.23 drivers,i tryed rolling back the drivers to a 44.xx version but that didn’t do squat

Could this be picmip related?or some other Cvar that i have tweaked?

Help i had to sub in for an Ice match the other week and this was so dam distracting.

Any Ideas?

It has to be some kind of hardware or driver issue, IMO.

Don’t discount heat/oc/bad hardward just because it happens only on certain maps. I’ve had OCed systems that seemed perfectly stable, but then crashed consistantly when you ran a certain, seemingly trivial program.

Checking for config issues is easy. Move all your .cfg files to another folder, and run et, causing it to generate a default config for you. If that doesn’t solve the problem, just move your .cfgs back. In et, it is even easier, you can just create a new profile.

If your stuff is OCed, try it at or below factory clock speeds. It is easy to try…

It could possibly be caused by something running in the background. Try disabling unneeded taskbar programs etc.

It is remotely possible that this is caused by other custom maps/files on yor machine, though I don’t see any mechanism which would cause that effect. You could try moving them, or doing a clean install to a new location.

thats a simple fix.
ok the magical video fairies inside your machine are slacking off, just talke the case off and slightly beat the everliving sense out of them with your index finger. and then if the problems continue, just pull and afghanastan and sever ones limb to show hiom whos boss, and make a good example of the little guy by kindly taking off one figer at a time. if again that doesnt work snap his neck between your thumb and pointer finger. that should solve all your video problems.

This system was not OCed in any way(vid card or processor)while doing this,and underclocking is not a viable solution.

/me can see point of thread, without reading the other one…

yeah its definately not the heavy overclocking, or you jamming the fans with cardboard to block it (actually helps airflow), the problem is your WHOLE SYSTEM is irrevocably BORKED. You will have to buy all new EVERYTHING, and because of the complex ways PC’s work, this includes stuff that might only be subtly linked to the problem, such as the pro-gamer mousemat.

Of course you’ll have to get a significant upgrade, since there’s no point buying stuff thats already antiquitated - what a WASTE of money that would be! I suggest at least a Intel Pentium 4 “Extreme Edition” (thats just marketing speak to buff up a perfectly standard chip, only real idiots get the basic model); or a AMD “Athlon FX51” for 64bit future proofing. Intel CPU are only 32bit, so the AMD one is twice as fast. Combine with a suitably fast video card for crisp visual details in modern programs, and to ensure the health of the eyes.

Actually, while having no clue to your existing specs, I can say with confidence the upgrade is worth it, if not completely necessary anyway, since you would get so much better productivity and your ancient hardware might be at risk to virii and HACKERS who could hack into your fridge and get bank details and other personal information, which could be used to aid TERRORISM. The economy as it is could also do with you making that complete upgrade, better make it a absolute top end system, the security of your country deserves it, and how could you look the neighbours in the eye if you cost them jobs by buying cheap tat?
