MAP: Rescue the Maiden

hi @ all! … the map will be finished soon…

the objectives are not final, even some details are missing but the most things are finished! so its time to release a beta1 of my work!

Mapname: Rescue the Maiden from the Evil Death Incarnate (=-DI-=) Cave

Map description:
Allies are starting in a forest and have to dynamite the cavern-main-entrance. in the cave there is a lot evil stuff… and in the prison there is the maiden (only covert open)… then they have to escape to the forest and have to flee with the subject by a helicopter

current Version: v0.9b2 -> full working beta1 out now

Objectives:

ALLIES:

  • Destroy (open) the Main-Entrance
  • Destroy (open) the Side-Entrance
  • Destroy Church-Wall to Prison
  • Repair Rope to Escape from Prison (Prison can be opened with covert ops, too)
  • Escape with the Object to the Helicopter in the Forest

AXXIS:

  • Repair (when destroyed) the Church-Wall
  • Destroy the Rope (when constructed before)
  • PREVENT ALLIES FROM ESCAPING WITH THE OBJECT

beta tests this week, final release maybe next week!

first beta-test was successful … a public beta will come this week…

today there will be a “final” beta-test on two servers with about 15 players… this beta-test is not official, yet… official-betatest next week… plz contact if you wanna join this beta-run

this is my first map… and i am mapping since 4 weeks only

today there will be a final beta-test… if you want to join the game plz contact me or

join irc-quakenet #wos-clan today at about 21:00 or 22:00 (gmt +1)

so… because i am only a hobby mapper (since a few weeks) and i cannot do everything alone… there will be some small bugs on the map … but it works fine… and i do not have the time to fix every little bug…

i will set this beta to final next wednesday…

the test run yesterday was really fun! there are still some details missing to round the gameplay but the release of the map, next wednesday, maybe a few days later can be hold

i hope you will have that fun at the map as i had…

I’m missing the entire command map, it only appears as an orange rectangle, maybe it’s something to do with the “Missing image/gfx…” error message in the console ?

maybe you have a old version… on the beta3 the command map is black… i asked for help but it is not easy to generate (or hand-draw) a nice command map for a outdoor map with 4 hight levels (generatetracemap looks very bad!)

but every help is welcome if you do not want to have a black map at final…

I’m unsure of the version, I got it from the webpage you linked to in this thread, and the filename is maiden3_pk3zip.zip, which would indicate its beta3 (?) but for me the rectangle is orange.
Anyway, wasn’t meant as critisizing your work rather just as a note in case you hadn’t seen it already due to your having the graphics I was missing or similar.

May I suggest something?

The helicopter has invisible sides on the inside of it. What you need to do is copy the outside layer then matrix invert it, so it will look like there are two sides to it.

yes, but i do not know why… this is not the final model but brushes missing after compilign… dont know why
the same problem i have with my plants i planted under water… they disappear after i compile -vis -light (on -bsp they are visible… the whole heli, too)

dont know… is there a limit of using models?
