Map download over HTTP

(STALAG13Hogan) #1

Hello Folks,
i have a question bout the HTTP Download.

my actual config looks like this

// DL, RATE

set sv_maxRate "13000"
set sv_dl_maxRate "42000"
set sv_allowDownload "1"
set sv_wwwDownload "1"
set sv_wwwBaseURL "www.stalag13-clan.net"
set sv_wwwDlDisconnected "0"
set sv_wwwFallbackURL "www.stalag13-clan.net/Downloads/ETMaps/"

but everytime i connect to my server no maps were downloaded ?
The maps are uploaded in the right directory but the client refuses to download them.
plz help. ehhm and is the rate ok ? if a http dl is possible the dl-rate schould be around 80 k/sec.

thx Hogan

ok, 1 thing about the ET dl system is that the http host must have the correct file structure.
so looking at your config, all maps must be located at http://www.stalag13-clan.net/etmain/ and any etpro stuff at http://www.stalag13-clan.net/etpro/
i suspect youve not done this.

So basic rule is, whatever sv_wwwBaseURL is must be a parent directory to etmain and any mod folders.

also, i think that the trailing / on sv_wwwFallbackURL is not needed, although i may be wrong

and add “http://” in front of it.

Both of you afaik are server admins, would probs be easier if you did a quick paste of one of your server configs? :o

(BSDman) #5

i could, but its probably the file structure on the web server if not the http bit being missing, which isnt anything to do with cfg’s

(STALAG13Hogan) #6

umm thx anyway
i’ll test it and inform u bout the things that will happen ^^.

(STALAG13Hogan) #7

ok my cfg loks like this now :

// DL, RATE

set sv_maxRate "13000"
set sv_dl_maxRate "100000"
set sv_allowDownload "1"
set sv_wwwDownload "1"
set sv_wwwBaseURL "www.stalag13-clan.net"
set sv_wwwDlDisconnected "0"
set sv_wwwFallbackURL "www.stalag13-clan.net"

and i copied the maps in the etmain-folder on my webspace ( www.stalag13-clan.net/etmain ) and the et-pro things in etpro ( www.stalag13-clan.net/etpro )
should work, or ?
ahh i chmoded the dirs to 755 i think.

(STALAG13Hogan) #8

hmm not working so far :((((((
hmm maybe it’s wrong chmoded ?
( dirs are 755 files are 644 )
but it’s still not working

(deej) #9

set “http://” in front of sv_wwwBaseURL and delete a map file on your local pc to test…

(BSDman) #10

yeah uve still missed the http:// bit

(STALAG13Hogan) #11

hmm ok.
thx

if you’re running an apache webserver also make sure the permissions for the dirs in there are set correctly.

alternatively drop a .htaccess file like this in your (www) etmain & etpro dirs:

Options +Indexes

note that from a security pov it is best to set permissions in your httpd.conf file
