map builder?

Now halo did this (halo is also a huge production) but i’m wondering if it would be possible in BRINK. Firstly I suppose something needs to be done about the lack of multiplayer without xbox LIVE (and the like) to accomplish this, but I digress.

Is it possible to give us a set of tools and a landscape (or three) that allows us to make objectives edit landscapes for smarting walls to build doors to hack bots to escort (maybe even some thing we haven’t seen in levels just yet?) And have some sort of custom map building? As hard to accomplish as this may be I think for a game all about being customized and replayable it would be a pretty sweet bit.

I know PC will be able to mod and so forth but im taling a real functioning map builder nothing to do with story basic voice acting, “soldiers blow that barrier!” (Gives me the lols when chen tells me to go blow ****.) And a custom map playlist (with a lobby!) So we can have some creative fun with brink.

Here’s looking forward to the future,

BiiG

P.S. sorry about all the ().

Not a bad idea, because with the smart system, even a set of basic blocks like for making skate parks, could end up in funny stuff. After all, the “parkour this” map doesn’t use so many different assets !

(BiigDaddyDellta) #3

Exactly, it would be fun expressive and partly easy to do just given a standard set of tools. If you played halo 3/reach at all im sure you’ve seen some of the amazing this people were able to do. Myself included

races!

parkour races might be cool.

and you could even go vertical

and with 3 body types it could be like motorstorm with the cars, lorries and motorbikes

That could be awesome, and it would work even if it was objective based. There could be a carry objective at the top and you could race to get it then race (and shoot each other) to get it down.

(RabidAnubis) #6

Would have to be like a 15$ expansion.

By itself. There isn’t a way that we could ask for this for absolutely nothing. Their studios are already starving I bet.

HALOS map builder sucked.

look at the Far Cry 2 builder, or look up some non troll custom maps.

(BiigDaddyDellta) #8

You’re privy to your opinion, but they made quiet a bit of money off of BRINK. But I also wasn’t digussing prices I just made a suggestion and asked about possibilities.

P.s. I did just fine with halos map builder, maybe it is you who sucked?

Why?

Charging for a map editor would be most retarded thing ever and be the surest way to piss off the majority of SD’s older fans on these boards. If dont know why, just scroll down beyond the Brink section on the main board page.

Map builder would be a nice added feature. Hopefully in the future when things get blown up they remain blown up till the end of the game. Like Bad Company.

It would be hard as hell to implement it into the game that is here.

And we would get UNLIMITED maps, and if they were well rated by the users the SD people could look at them and make them official.

No, I’m just saying that the editor wasn’t as good, but We don’t need to argue over that. I’ll look up examples, you may be right that I suck with it.

And I’ll stop discussing prices, but how much profit did they make off of brink?

Either way, I see your suggestion would improve the game play immensely, and we both have better experience with different builders I guess. Sorry for sounding like a bad person, my rush in must have been a little insulting. Please accept my apologies.

They somehow managed fine with their past two games…

(RabidAnubis) #13

I have to ask, did they put the map builder in before the game was made or after it?

That makes a big difference.

(BiigDaddyDellta) #14

I was just messing with you anubis, one opinion for another.

Just messing with you anubis, one opinion for the other. Seriously though. Look me up on the bungie site and check my file share if you like

XD

Oh well. I think that UAV racing should be a game mode! Who’s with me!

(wolfnemesis75) #17

Forge is great in Halo 3. Its a long shot anything like that would make it into any other game without Microsoft backing it, lol.

It was released 6 months after for ET (though with GTKRadiant, a lot could be done already), and 2 months after ETQW’s release.

(BiigDaddyDellta) #19

Its just a suggestion to add more playability. The maps get a bit repetitive. But I love this game a lot.

Halo’s map builder sucked!?!

Bit of a broad statement from a bloke who hasn’t made his own!

Halo’s Forge was revolutionary when it came out. And Forge 2.0 in Reach gave everyone the tools for everlasting maps, gametypes and scenarios. Plus something to get artistic with.

Fair enough if you don’t enjoy using it, but saying it sucked sounds pretty trolly to me.
