With my Audigy 2 sound card I can record what is currently playing.
As an alternitive you could plug your line-out into the line-in of the soundcard and try to record this.

then i cant hear what is happening anyway

Could try this…

Then it should record ‘what you hear’

Actually I was referring to the Audigy Audio Mixer, where you can select the source for recording directly. All recording programms (like Wavelab or the Windows Audiorecorder) will record the wave output of the soundcard, when you select the “Wave” option.

“What you hear” should also work…

In NVMixer (nForce motherboards) it’s called “Stereo Mix”/“Mono Mix”.

The Creative Audio Mixer probably selects the same windows-settings as in my picture :o

fraps can record sound too

i tried fraps, it only records for 30 seconds, and the sound quality is rubbish, also its all jerky

When you record the sound from a demo you don’t need to hear it!? You can edit it later anyways.

but when you go into replay and record it you dont get sound

Total Recorder can record “what you hear”. What you do is cap your clip with avidemo, play the demo again and capture the sound with TSR then synch the sound to your rendered avi in your editor. Simple stuff.

Yeah, I’ll vouch for Total Recorder too. It is a pay progam though. It’ll record for 30seconds I think before pay, but the standard version is like $12. Great freakin’ program, found them like in 2000 and have had all the updates (free) since 2.x sumthin’. It places it’s sound driver between the soundcard and the os and captures any sound that comes across your pc, so when ET’s playin’, it records the sound straight into a wav file for ya. It lists as a sound card driver in audio properties and you can run ur originals anytime also. Great app, worth the purchase too.
